Avis - Prepaid and free day coupon interaction?

Does anyone have experience with selecting a prepaid rate with a free day coupon?

On a 3 day weekend rental, avis.com wants to charge me the 3 day prepaid rate. I'm fine with that, so long as I get a credit for a day when I return the car.

Anyone have experience with this situation? Does the final receipt show a credit back to the card for the free day?

They will initially charge you for all three days on a prepaid just like how they reserve the funds on your credit card for a pay later charge. After you return the vehicle they process a refund to your card for the free day.

**Note: If you earn free days with one of their loyalty/frequent renter programs, you should be aware that prepaid rentals DO NOT qualify toward earning reward days.
