Business is taking me to Johnstown, PA. The hotels there seem to range from Motel Six to Holiday Inn Express. There's a Hampton Inn there. Does anyone have any experience with it? I did a search on Johnstown and found nothing on the board.

I never stayed there but have stayed at many of the other Johnstown hotels. IMHO the Hampton Inn has gotta be the nicest place as the other hotels/motels are quite old, crummy and really dreary.

I recently stayed at the Johnstown Hampton Inn. It is a fairly new property, rooms were clean and nice. Complimentary continental breakfast included boiled eggs, fruit, bagels, SOS, doughnuts, cereal, coffee, juice. Quiet.

Very nice and helpful reception staff when I checked in during the afternoon. They made dinner reservations at a local place, including a 10% off coupon.

The hotel is about 5 miles distant from the center of Johnstown proper. Rate: $62.00 a night.

There are a couple of competing chains with similar setups closeby; they did not appear to be too old and tired from what I saw on the outside only.

Interesting things to do in the area, including my favorite, the Seldom Seen tourist coal mine.
