300 short of Summit, and I already have 2 flights booked in January. Last year we could attain through January, but this year I guess is different. Is there any way for me to get to Summit? I have always been loyal to Frontier because I am a native Coloradoan.

You might have luck writing them and asking -- I assume you didn't make Summit on segments (30), yes?
I really wish that Frontier would give customers the option to purchase elite-qualifying miles or segments. It just seems like such a no-brainer to me. People do mileage runs / segment runs to maintain elite status. Why not allow something simlar without having people actually fly? Take my money and give me my elite miles or segment, but don't make me waste the time to actually fly and sell that seat to someone else.
It may make sense to put some cap on it so it is impossible (or at least really expensive) for someone who rarely flies Frontier to buy elite status. But for someone who is a fairly close to hitting an elite tier, paying to bridge the shortfall would be a nice option. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but some would jump at the idea.
It's not only beneficial for the customer to be elite, but Frontier benefits from having customers invested in their FF program too. FF program addicts do things like seeking out the carrier and doing milage runs. If someone wants to pay you for the privledge of becoming addicted to your FF program, why not let them?

Doubt it is worth it but you can fly to or from COS for $195 OW. I lot of money for 500 miles but it would put you over 25K

Thanks guys, no I don't meet the segment requirements either. Really kicking myself because I thought I had through January to earn status. I'll send an email and see if I have any luck.

I find myself in the same boat (774 miles short of maintaining Ascent). I was on the Ascent line today (purchasing Stretch for a ressie I made for my folks) and asked the rep about it. She said usually if you send a nice e-mail to the ER address they will give you Ascent if you are less that 1,000 away. She said they decide in January. I will give it a shot, doesn't hurt to ask.

Yup, doesn't hurt to ask. And if you have any upcoming 2012 travel booked already, I think it's worth the effort to mention that, including giving specific PNR locator codes and dates/destinations in case they want to be able to prove it.

Just had to report that I was a few miles short of maintaining Ascent for '12 and sent an e-mail to the ER department last month about it. I included my future ressies. I see now that they did grant me Ascent for '12 even though I was technically short. Thank you, F9! Now if only the snow will hold off for my MKE flight tomorrow morning!

That was nice of them! Hopefully others will find success if they are just barely short too.

Yep, I was just granted Summit by them too, sent a nice email with future flights and they granted the exception. I sent a nice thank you note to the ER team.

Good to hear! It's easy to be critical and wonder if they can do anything right sometimes, so it's great to hear when they succeed.
