Fairmont President's Club - Platinum free night reward query

FPC offers a "free night reward" as part of its PLAT upgrades. Reservations does not permit you to book the free night in conjunction with a stay on the GOLD floor. A couple of years ago, in BER, the Hamilton Princess agreed to allow us to use the cert for the Gold stay.^

Do any FT's have a more recent experience with such an exception? Thanks!

Have tried a few times with no success. I´d recommend contacting the e-mail directly and possibly offer to pay the difference between a Fairmont room and the Gold room.
