Thanks...I paste here under the conditions (the most important one is that flights have US departure):

Please keep in mind the following conditions when downloading and then using this e-coupon:

1.You need to book your trip on alitalia.com’s US site (alitalia.com/us_en/) by midnight February 29, 2012 (EST).
2.All travel must be completed by December 31, 2012.
3.Only one e-coupon code may be applied per booking.
4.One code per email address and one–time use.
5.You must download your e-coupon code prior to making your booking and enter the number during the final step of the booking process. On the payment page, enter the e-coupon number into the field "E-coupon" and click "RECALCULATE."
6.E-coupons cannot retroactively be applied to existing bookings or used in combination with another e-coupon.
7.Tickets must be purchased with a U.S. credit card and discount is limited to trans-Atlantic purchases originating in the US.
8.Discount applies only to Economy Class or Business Class trans-Atlantic itineraries. Classica Plus, Premium Economy class tickets are not eligible for the discount.
9.Round-trip travel must be between the original departure and final destination airports, e.g. New York-JFK to Rome-FCO / Rome-FCO return to New York-JFK.
10.The 15% will be taken off the entire ticket cost.

Anyone have a more flex coupon like 10% off all flights they had recently? Want to fly out of Milan to North America.

p.s. thanks for this post. keep the promo codes coming - they're elusive but there!

10% is a relatively common one nowadays, I even managed to use one myself.

That being said I don't see any currently. If your flight is far away it might be worth monitoring the Alitalia websites for a few weeks to see if a coupon appears for European-bound itineraries.

Hi, I am planning a family trip for 4 to Rome from JFK in June and was researching airfare.

The cheapest non-stop for my dates is actually on Alitalia or on Delta (which is actually a codeshare flight through Alitalia I believe).

I was actually coming here to flyertalk to figure out if I should purchase our tickets through Delta or through Alitalia. So, this coupon which I can use is a pleasant surprise and is making me lean towards purchasing through Alitalia. FF is actually not as big a concern as price.

I understand that one e-coupon can be used per ticket which isn't a problem because everyone has an e-mail account and we can each get one. I've done separate transactions to purchase tickets with coupons before for US domestic flights that are no more than 3 hours long.

I'm a bit nervous in buying each individual ticket through separate transactions because 2 of the tickets will be for minors.

Questions if anyone knows:

1) Will there be a problem to purchase a single ticket for a minor (youngest will be 11)?

2) There is availability to purchase 4 tickets together now. My fear is that the flight gets sold out before we buy the last ticket separately more than that the fare goes up because at least I am getting a discount. Is there a way to check how full the flight is? I'm thinking and hoping that won't be a problem because the flight isn't until June.

3) Can we choose our seats after ticket purchase? I want to make sure we all sit together since 8-9 hours in too long for my kids to be alone.

Thanks for any advice or thoughts before I bite the bullet and start buying my tickets one by one.

P.S. Can the tickets be "linked" after purchase since my kids are minors?

Oh, and since Alitalia and Delta codeshare the flights, I have a few choices to either fly on a Alitalia flight or a Delta flight. If the price is the same and the different flight times all work for me, should I choose one over the other?

Thanks.

Why would you buy tickets passenger by passenger? Discounts are always multiplied by the number of passengers in the reservation. And yes you can select the seats online while purchasing or by phone if you forgot to.

As for a choice Alitalia/Delta, if you have no FF preference, then aircraft might make the difference - give us your flight numbers and we can work out which plane to choose.

Because the e-coupons emailed to me is one per ticket per transaction. I did a dummy transaction and the website only took 15% off one ticket when I was trying to book 4 at a time.

After playing around, I think I can purchase my 13 yo and DH separately with one coupon each and then my ticket with my 11 yo with other. I won't get the 15% the 11 yo ticket but the discount on the 3 of us is better than nothing. Can't buy the 11 yo ticket separately. When you enter the birthday on-line, the latest year option is 2000.

You're right! That's very odd indeed. Usually e-coupons (including recent 10% ones) are always deducted from the whole ticket price irrespective of the number of passengers.

I'll get that info for you guys in a bit when I get a chance. Work keeps getting in the way of my vacation planning and internet surfing. :p If the paychecks didn't fund my travel addiction... ;)

Btw, I think I'm going to pick the flights based on the flights that are the most ideal which will be:

AZ611 JFK-FCO 9:30pm-12:05pm Airbus A330
AZ610 FCO-JFK 2:40pm-6:15pm Boeing 777-200/200er

I think both are Alitalia operated flights.

Here are the other times and flights. I "think" some of the Delta codeshare flights went up on Alitalia - just going by the kayak prices. Didn't try to make a purchase through Alitalia yet so not sure.

AZ609 JFK-FCO 5:25pm-8am Airbus A330 Gets to Rome too early. Some people like to hit the road running. Not us. I like to check-in and get settled first.

Flt7615 JFK-FCO 7:50pm-10:35am Airbus A330
Flt7614 FCO-JFK 12:55pm-4:50pm Airbus A330 **

** Will be heading to the airport straight from the cruise port so the time of this is actually good. But it is a Delta flight and I'm not sure if the fare changed since last night AND was wondering if the Boeing 777 was better than the Airbus A330?

Thanks for any insight.

On AZ A330 is better than 777 but 777 is OK -
just avoid 764 (which is actually a 763) but they very rarely fly from JFK

Between DL and AZ in Y I would go with AZ simply for the food

Thank you everyone for your help and advice!

I bit the bullet and purchased my tickets! I was searching on kayak.com and went through the link to Alitalia and tried out the e-coupon code and it took off the 15% on all 4 tickets!!

I immediately snapped that up. It solved all my split ticket transaction problems. There was one teeny problem in that kayak let's you enter how many "travelers" and assumes they are all adults and so when they forward the info to the airline website, they had us as 4 adults with no way to change the info. I had to "add" a year to my 11 yo's birthday to make the system accept her pax info.

I will call the airline to change it later. Since the reservations are all linked on one booking number, it relieves my mind a bit.

The 11 yo is being charged the full adult fare. I think there is a $50 discount on the "child" fare but we are saving about $189 instead off that ticket.

THANK YOU very much for posting the link for the 15% ecoupon! I really appreciate it and all the helpful people on this forum. It saved us over $700 dollars which we will have no problems spending in Rome.
