Hilton HHonors - If someone gives me a GLOB, is it my status or their status?

Someone I know may give me their 100k so I can use it as an award. He is Gold, I am Diamond. Will I get the benefit of his Gold or my Diamond?

Typically, the differences between the two are minimial, if all. However, I understand that is not true in Europe. Seems Gold is, well, not Diamond and to get the true benefits of your membership, Diamond is really the only sure way. I have read this time and time again.

We just used an award from my wife's account (gold) for us under my name (diamond). Even though I had shown my diamond card at the hotel we were still listed as gold as the award came from a gold member's account.

This is one instance where you will want to contact the hotel and notify them of YOUR status.

Then follow up shortly before the trip as well.

We are Diamond level (mutual fund) and will be staying at the HWV in Dec. on an ALON redeemed in our name from my brother's Gold HH account. Our HWV reservation indicates only our name, HH number and diamond status and was made by the diamond desk. When my brother redeemed the ALON it was issued in our name from the regular HH line, but it has his account number, but they said the award doesn't need to be tied to our reservation.
So how would the HWV know before we present them with the certificate that we are using an award from a Gold account? Does the HWV need to know any of that info of where the reward is coming from before we check in?
I want to be sure it won't be a problem at check-in.
