I just returned from a trip to Taiwan and Japan with JAL in business class. I have to say JAL were truly magnificant. On the outward flight from London I injured my foot due to my own stupidity, as I tried to jump over PAX next to me while he was asleep. I landed awkwardly and felt my foot was warm. In the bathroom I noticed my foot was covered in blood.
I told a crew member quietly and she bandaged my foot. But as bandage and its replacement gradually turned red they felt I should see a doctor in Tokyo. I had a connecting flight to Taiwan 2 hours later and pleaded that I had to catch this.
They told me not to worry and organised a wheelchair at NRT and whisked me through immigration to the clinic. After my foot was cleaned and bandaged I was whisked to First Class lounge where staff brought me coffee and snacks. Then I was taken to my next aircraft.
I politely asked staff that I could cope without a wheelchair in Taiwan so they cancelled it. But when collecting my suitcase another member of staff walked up and made sure she took the suitcase off the belt and put it onto my trolley and again asked if I needed help. She said "We were very concerned about you".
And the concern continued when I checked in for Japan two weeks later.
All in all I was impressed. They could have said nothing and I would not have thought any worse of them.
So to the crew on 2 Dec from LHR-NRT and on 3 Dec NRT-KHH please accept a big thank you from me.
This was my first flight on JAL and I hope to fly JAL again. I hope these words can somehow be passed to JAL management.
