Hi All,
Just came back from a wonderful Easter vacation in NYC.. We stayed at the Waldorf Towers (NYC), not to be confused with the Waldorf=Astoria.
We booked teh Deluxe Room based on the weekend rate using the Conrad Website (which was substantially cheaper than calling the reservation line)...
As a gold member, we were upgraded to a SUITE (Can't remember what suite - I believe it was an one bedroom - it was HUGE)... I have never stayed at this Hotel before. The suite was incredible, Had a separate bedroom which was laviously appointed, a gorgeous bathroom (the size of my bedroom) with gold plated faucets, sinks and toilet, and a separate living room.. In the living room was a bar counter with complimentary coffee..It also had a beautiful chandalier! We were up in the 37th Floor, high enough to not hear the street noise below.
A few observations about the Tower:
(1) the Tower is a separate hotel from the Waldorf=Astoria with its own checkin, concierge. You can still access the Waldorf+Astoria from the 2nd Floor
(2) The hotel starts on teh 22nd floor and goes up to as high as 44th floor I believe. We had 37th floor.
(3) The rooms are confusingly numbered.. we were in Room 37H4 (don't know what the means... Apparently there's a 37H room as well.. All the rooms seem to have this odd number system
(3) To get to any floor in this hotel, you need to swipe in your room key in the elevator before the elevator operates
(4) As a Gold member, I had access to the lounge that served Continental Breakfast as well as Afternoon snacks.. The lounge is located on teh 26th Floor (in the Waldorf=Astoria building), which can be access from the Tower and is available to both Tower's and Waldorf=Astoria Gold and Plat members... THe lounge is NOT all that great... It's looks really old, and it was HOT all the time... The food was ok. nothing t rave about. We did not have breakfast there, only the afternoon canapes (avaiable ony from 5-7pm)
(5) The in room dining menu prices were OUTRAGEOUS!! (I guess for a luxury it would need to be.. Example.. American breakfast (eggs, bacon, pototoes, coffee and juice) was $30 plus $4 per person delivery charge + 15% tips... when you add this up for two people = over $100... Another example, soup of the day $11, Caesar Salad with chicken = $21... I could go on, but wont...
(6) It shares the gym with the Waldolf=Astoria on the 19th floor... Decent equipments and is complimentary for Gold, Plat, and all guests staying at the Tower..
(7) Service was Dynamite!! Every staff acknowledged your presence..
Overall we had a great time!!
