Hilton HHonors - AA miles for Glon certificatesView Full Version : AA miles for Glon certificates romcarlos Apr 20, 03, 8:46 am I am flying to Tokyo and I want to use some of my AA miles (EXP) for a hotel stay....Do I need to have some elite status with HHonors in order to claim a GLON? Were you going to transfer your AA miles into Hilton and then redeem for an award? The reward redemption rates increase June 1 so you would need to do it soon. PS Have any VIPOWs that you don't need? Silver is pretty easy to get (4 stays in a year), and may be yours for the asking if you have some status with another hotel or air program. I'd suggest a phone call (or two or three). Or you can get Silver by getting either credit card (Visa or Amex), which are both fee free and get some nice bonus points. Originally posted by romcarlos: What about Starwood? Yes, what about it? The site says you can call in and pay an expedite fee and they will be done "under 21 days." Well, I called the # listed on the web and they said it was a $50 fee but went ahead and did it for free for me (Platinum) without me even asking. Also, they send you paper certs which then have to be sent in to Hilton. So, if you need the GLON soon, you really need to call AA soon. It takes 5-7 days to get the AA certs and I'm still waiting on mine. You might be able to FedEx the certs to Hilton if you need them done quickly. Oh yeah, you should make your GLON reservation now as you don't need to turn in the cert until you get to the hotel, but the GLON availability may be hard to get for your dates. |
