Hilton HHonors - Is recently attained Gold Status reflected on Previously Made Reservations?

I have just recently attained Gold Status. I have several upcoming stays that were reserved a few months back when I had only Silver status. Will the hotels be aware of my new status at check in? Or will I have to tell them to look it up on their computer as I don't have my Gold card yet? It would be nice to not have to "work" at getting the Gold perks and have them instead be graciously presented to me. Or maybee it's just wishful thinking that these perks will happen.

Within the past year, I became Gold and later Diamond. Each time, the hotel computer did recognize my "new" status even if the reservation was made during my "old" status. However, I think I was told by a front desk clerk that all hotel computers are not created equal, so this has the potential to vary according to property. To be sure, I would either call or email the property, or just print out a copy of the HHonors web page with your new status after you log in.

I once made a Hilton reservation as Gold, showing up at check-in as Gold. When I asked the clerk about breakfast based on status, he replied: "You're blue!"

So much for their computer system. Print out your status from the web in lieu of the card. If that doesn't work, firmly request the check-in desk to contact HHonors about it if they cannot verify it on-site.

I agree - not all systems are the same. Two years ago while silver I booked a reservation two months in advance, then became gold. At check in I asked about an upgrade and breakfast certificates/lounge access since it wasn't offered and the lady said that the computer showed me as silver. After presenting my newly arrived gold card she was happy to get me lounge access, although the rooms for upgrade had already been assigned. I'd take the card or a printout just in case.

Similiar thing happened to me. In between 2 stays at the same hotel separated by a day, the first folio showed me as gold while the second folio showed me as diamond on checkout. Both reservations were made while I was still diamond. All upgrades were given regardless because I had contacted the hotel prior to my arrival. Just in case, it never hurts to bring your current credentials with you.

Similar story here. Last year after I had been Diamond for 6 months I was told that I was still listed as Gold at checkin in one hotel's system. Good idea to bring that printout of your status from the website.
