Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Expedia refuses to refund the Tax portion of my non-refundable booking

I booked a British Airways non-refundable flight on Expedia.com and can no longer make that flight.

I typically always apply for a refund of the Tax portion of the fare in these situations. However, I have contacted BA and they told me that if a booking is made through a travel agent, then the partial refund has be done by the travel agent.

Expdia customer care however has been refusing to isssue this refund and have referred me to contact the IRS.

Is there anything I can do to get the tax refunded that I am legally entitled to?

I once made a hotel reservation on Expedia where Expedia said a hotel had an airport shuttle, but it did not. When I asked Expedia for a refund of the amount it cost me to get to the airport and back (which, roundtrip, was only something like $20), they refused. This really annoyed me (more than it should have), and I complained to the BBB online. Expedia did engage in the process, and ultimately credited back $20 to my credit card.

I don't know if refusing to refund taxes is legit or not, but if it's not, then the BBB might be the way to go. tls

I wonder who is officially responsible to refund the taxes? Is it them or the IRS?

The Taxes I am referring to are the Government and Airport TAxes for my flight from LHR to NCE.

I do not see the IRS having any responsibility since the Taxes I am talking about aare due to HEathrow Airport, BAA, and NICE Airport

Don't know about Expedia, but some airlines, e.g. FR, will happily refund your taxes, of say £15 pp, but for the privilege will charge you an administration fee, which by sheer coincidence will amount to, say, £15 pp.

It seems so.. I guess it might be somewhere in the T&C. Either way, I find this pretty ridiculous and am not sure if I'll be booking with Expedia again...

Expedia happily refunded my taxes and fees about a year ago. Entire ticket was about 210 euro's, of which 160 was taxes fees. It was credited to my creditcard almost inmediatly. Perhaps they have changed their policy?

We will never book with Expedia. Their customer service is atrocious. Booked hotel guaranteed non smoking. Got smoking only. No resolution from hotel. Expedia won't do anything about it either. Booked our honeymoon with them before, but we will never do business with them again based on principal.

had the same problem 3-4 months, booked PRG-WAW ticket on czech, couldn't make the flight, called czech they said expedia had to do it, called expedia no help, CUSTOMER NO SERVICE
