Hi all! My wife and I are set for our 1st ever LAN trip! We are in Biz class (thanks BA credit card offer) I assume for our flight LAX to LIM (LAN 2605 on 24 Dec) we cant check in on line to confirm our seat assignments? I was hoping to be next to my wife and one of us by the window. we have our seats as per checkmytrip.com but it seems like they could change.
any other newbie tips for our flight? This forum has been GREAT and so helpful- thank you!
You could try to select your seats through the Lan.com website without checking in (Plan & Book --> Seat Selection). That doesn't always work for flights to/from the US.
Another option could be this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/lan-lanpass/1292619-trouble-pre-selecting-seat-lan.html).
Have a great trip!

Another option might be the website of Finnair. That site, which I learned today on this forum, enables you to select seats on most OneWorld flights. I managed to select my seats from LIM to SFO on that website, using the "Manage my Booking" option.
Have a great trip!
Thanks! Yea i saw the tip as well- good thing I like hockey! My seats are selected and verified by checkmytrip.com but my concern was i get to the airport and we lost our seats. I know this can happen on any airline but it looked like from this forum it happens with LAN as well.

Yeah, there was some discussion about this... I promised to ask... and did...
Even though you will do only a pre-clearance in EEUU, my understanding is that your seat assignment can/will be preserved when it changes over to airport control and there you can keep or change your seat.
Problem arises when J becomes full. At J9, all is well. When J <9 or some number or even J=0 (remember they seat block row 1 and crew rest seats) it becomes a problem under airport control to assign seats when people arrive... hence arriving early gives you better choice if seat assignments get thrown into the air.
An interesting point, more relevant on your return, at 48 hours you can check in at the airport and they will assign seats, bulkhead and exit. The interesting part is any airport, hence I checked in
at PIU 36 hours before (5 minutes from my hotel) and got exit row on LIM-UIO next day international flight. Nice trick if you can do it.
FT tip: Always remember to check in electronically 48 hours before for LAN.

Thank you so much! Great info. since I am starting in the US I cant check in on line - right or can I? on our return trip we are flying EZE-LAX- so can I check in on line for that flight?
I checked the loads a few times on our long haul flights and they keep changing. As per the forum- it looks like our flight on 24 Dec LAX-LIM has less rows in Business. The EZE-LAX flight on 7 Jan seems to have the full compliment of premium Biz class.

You can still check in on line at 48 hours but for U.S.-bound flights it is called "Pre-check in". For your purposes I don't think the distinction makes a difference. You can't print boarding passes (in pre-check in) but you CAN confirm seats.
