Hilton HHonors - Hilton New York vs. Doubletree Times SqView Full Version : Hilton New York vs. Doubletree Times Sq tigeragent Apr 15, 03, 8:32 pm I'm looking to stay at one of the two...which is better as an HHonors Gold? smahk Apr 15, 03, 8:50 pm New York Hilton....... Excellent Lounge - HHonors Check in on the 44th floor - awesome upgrades. DoubleTree is in a VERY crowded part of town - often very hard to get in and out of just the front door. Lobby is on Second floor and you have to take an elevator to reach lobby then another elevator to room. Rooms are standard Doubletree - upgrades are just OK - even as a diamond. No Lounge or really any special perks for HHonors. Times Square Hilton is around the corner from Double Tree - new and nice rooms - but no Lounge and again Lobby not on ground floor. New York Hilton is Nicest! PS Could also try Waldorf - recent rates have been very enticing! traveler4ever Apr 15, 03, 9:03 pm <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by smahk: New York Hilton....... The New York Hilton has a great executive level lounge with some great views. It is in between Central Park and Times square. I also agree about the Waldorf. It is sometimes cheaper to stay there! They have a great executive level lounge also. The Waldorf Towers is having some great rates too, under their "upgrade your style" promotion at: https://secure.hilton.com/en/ch/res/choose_dates.jhtml;jsessionid=CM2SVDYGRGHC5J31AOQ2 JLQ?_requestid=941482&hotel=NYCWTHH&spec_plan_desc=Upgrade+Your+Style&spec_plan=PA&adId=CHNEWS %2CWaldorf even though I don't think their location is the best. Westcoaster Apr 15, 03, 11:01 pm The DT is an all suites property, so you're guaranteed a separate bedroom and living room, plus a refrigerator and microwave. They give a nice free breakfast buffet to Golds and Diamonds. There is a subway entrance right next door as well. I haven't stayed at the NY Hilton for a couple of years, so I can't give a recent review. Your decision would depend a lot on location, I would think. |
