Asiana Club - Equipment change and possible downgrade- what to expect from OZ?
It seems that OZ has subbed 2 class 777 for 747 FRA-ICN some days this week.
My booking still shows 747 as per checkmytrip, staralliance.com, KVSTool, milesandmore.com etc. I have one F and one O reservation. The booking class is also correctly shown (F First and O Economy). OZ website however shows 1930 departure ex- FRA and 777. Nobody has bothered to inform me anything, I found out the schedule change (from 1830 to 1930) by accident when I logged in today to check my PNR and was told to accept schedule change:mad::mad:
If there is a substitution of aircraft, how will OZ handle it? LH and KE flights that day are empty, will we be rebooked on them in F? Heaven forbid we are forced to fly old OZ C, will we be compensated for invol downgrade if that is the case.
If it is TG, TK et al., I would be worried, hope OZ knows how to handle these situations.
Thanks in advance for help.

If it's not a last-minute downgrade, OZ's responsibility pretty much ends with notifying the airline/agent that issued the ticket. If it's not an OZ reward ticket but a BD ticket, for example,, it means it's BD's responsibility to 1. inform you, and 2. work out a suitable alternative.
In cases where the downgrade is notified in advance (or, in your case, receive notice by calling in yourself...), I highly doubt you will be accommodated on Korean Air since BD can't book KE. As for LH, you might have a case to argue for them to re-accommodate you on LH without the 10k surcharge and so on, but the alternative is that they simply offer to refund the difference between an F reward and a C reward.
Either way, unless OZ is the issuing airline, there is nothing that OZ can/will do if this is not something that you found out for the first time at the airport.

PS. When is your flight? If they're still listing F class for sale through the various channels, your flight may well not be affected. It could also be slow updating, but you won't know for sure until your F booking actually gets cancelled.

I just called BD and my agent- both say that tickets are unaffected- i.e. flight is 747 and booking class O/F. But the flight is closed for sales in F which is why I checked on OZ website. I have a connecting flight to FRA on LH, according to LH it is still F and 747.
Leaving in less than 24 hours, nobody has bothered to tell me anything so far. Since neither are OZ tickets I see no point in calling OZ.
I have taken printouts from checkmytrip and milesandmore with today's dates tamp, which shows F/O clearly. Last week the flight was showing F5 A5.

Assuming that the booking agent/airline received no prior notification, it will then be an involuntary downgrade at the airport if they do not seat you in F. In this case, you can demand the full range of remedies, including the EU regs since the flight is departing from the EU.
Maybe a good idea to get a PNR printout from the TA to show they received no info.
Indeed there was a last minute equipment switch as one of the 747s went tech a few days ago, and since it is due to tech reasons not covered by EU regulations (apparently), ended up flying CA F thanks to my TA.

Tech is covered by EU 261/2004.

Technical issues are considered to be within the carrier's control and thus 261/2004 compensation applies. Given that you were rebooked in CA F and notification of the change occurred less than one week from departure your are entitled to EUR 600 in compensation so long as you were required to depart your point of origin more than 1 hour earlier than scheduled or your arrived at destination more than 2 hours later than scheduled.

We left two days later than scheduled.
What is the process- do I write to OZ in Germany first to set things in motion? I was under the impression that since we switched carriers rather than risk flying old C seats, OZ will wash their hands off.

If you proactively switched seats to CA F through your travel agent, rather than a re-accommodation by OZ, then I'm fairly sure you will not be eligible for compensation.
