I've got about 18k sindbad miles and 44k status miles. I'm not sure what the difference is, but anyhow could someone please give me some advice about what I can do with these miles. Thanks

Status miles go towards reaching silver tier status.
Regular miles you can use to upgrade and so forth. If you go to

Just joined and plan to fly with WY a few times.
18000 miles allow you to upgrade MCT-BKK (Economy to business).
Quick question for those in Silver or Gold tier. When I get enough miles to upgrade from Blue to Silver status, do those extra miles count toward renewal next year? For example, if I need 10000 miles to upgrade to Silver, but I'm flying 20000 miles, will those extra 10000 miles count toward renewal if I get another 10000 within 12 months?
This will help me plan my trips.
