Looks like I'll be spending Friday night in either Jackson or Vicksburg. Has anyone stayed at the Hilton or HI in North Jackson? Are these decent properties? I've stayed at the HI in Vicksburg before and it's OK, but thought I might try something different this time.

Oh yeah, this from the Hilton website for the Jackson Hilton on transportation options to the airport. Check out the last option. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Jackson International Airport
Distance from hotel: 12 mi.
Drive time: 15 min.
Directions: From airport, follow exit signs to I-20 West. Approximately 4 miles I-20 intersects with I-55. Take I-55 North to exit 103. Hotel is at intersection of I-55 and exit 103. (County Line Road)
Getting to and from the Airport
Courtesy Bus, Limousine , typical minimum charge is USD 75.00, Rental Car , typical minimum charge is USD 40.00, Taxi , typical minimum charge is USD 20.00, Walk

Get turn by turn directions.

Like anyone would actually consider walking 12 miles to the airport. Funny that walking is not listed as an option for the two airports that are 4 miles closer.

I used to travel to Jackson regularly. I always stayed at the Hilton Jackson. It is a great property-new, clean, very courteous staff. They gave me a suite and breakfast. The location on County Line Road is near a lot of retial and eating options.

You have to rent a car. Shuttles are a pain in Jackson and if you're considering walking you might a well just walk from Memphis.

I just stayed at the Hilton in Jackson, MS last week, and it was great. Impeccable service, decent (Southern-style) food in the restaurant, and concierge lounge access for Gold members (providing free breakfast buffet and happy hour). I wasn't expecting much, and was impressed.

Lots of retail and restuarants (all price ranges) within walking distance (though being a strip mall retail area, pedestrian access in this neighborhood is not great).

I have stayed at the Jackson Hilton each week since last October. I rate it an excellent business person's hotel. If gold or diamond, take advantage of the concierge lounge - Tues-Fri 6:30AM breakfast, and Mon-Thurs 5:30-7:30 free cocktails and snacks. Say hello to Frankie there in the evenings.
