Swiss International Airlines - dilemma C>F question
Hey, so I'm trying to figure out whether I should upgrade ZHR-HKG from C>F in january.
I would like to hear how these arguments should be valuated:
- arriving 1.5 days earlier from JFK (jetlag issues)
- feeder flight MXP-ZHR should be changed to an earlier one to get more of the lounge: cost 150 euros
- Old F seats on the ZHR-HKG (which I still enjoy actually, especially on such a long flight)
- New C seats have to be considered
- Is there dinner service in the lounge btween 19:00 - 22:00 ??
So basically, upgrade to F for 150 euros + miles ?
thanks for insights!

The LX F lounge is absolutely not worth changing your flight for, even without the 150 EUR charge. It is nowhere near LH FCL/FCT standards, both in terms of soft and hard product. Grab a drink and let them drive you directly to your plane to somewhere in the greater vicinity of your gate, but don't expect overly personable or attentive service, especially during busy dinnertime.
That's said, I'd still go for F. I like to think of the "Old F" seats as merely a different variety of the same product and not so much as a totally different league in terms of comfort, as you might with LH. Enjoy a meal that's at least as good as what you might get in the lounge, but with much friendlier and more professional service! Your flight time is long enough to have an extended dinner and still be left with more than enough time to sleep.

well my biggest thought is the thing about just coming back from the states on the 3rd, just adapting to the EU time zone and flying further east less than two days later.
But since the HKG route has the new C seats installed its really a question if its worth it (because as you said supercool limo service directly to your plane). There probably is an existing thread already covering the question 'new C better than old F?' ?!
From the 'old seats' perspective, surely those are better than the old ones offered by LH on the MUC-HKG route.

LX F - even with the old seats - is pretty nice and significantly better than the new business class. I believe the seats are just not wide enough to comfortably sit or sleep. They have 4+5 across in Business, most other airlines with a similar layout have only 8 across on the 777, which is wider than the 340.
The LX F lounge in ZRH is an ok lounge, but pretty pale compared to the LH lounge offerings. I would never spend 150 Euro to be there for a few hours.

My sentiments also - the F Lounge at Zueri is not really worth it - small , only 2 dayrooms which are usually full -the Senator Lounge next door IMHO is nicer although more crowded, and there is a smoking bar in the Senator Lounge
