Accor PR: (http://www.accor.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Contenus_Accor/Finance/Pressreleases/2011/EN/2011_12_16_pr_accor_mirvac.pdf?id_xiti=1324022403)
Accor, a leader in Asia-Pacific, strengthens its position in Australia and New Zealand with the acquisition of Mirvac, a hotel management company
Following this transaction comprising of 6,100 rooms (48 hotels) Accor’s portfolio in those countries will reach 241 hotels, covering the spectrum of hotel segments......
The 48 hotels are located mainly in Australia, in key cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Four of the hotels are located in New Zealand. The majority of the portfolio will be integrated into Accor’s upscale and midscale brands: Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel and Mercure.
Great news.

I don't know any of these, but the locations and property descriptions seem very promising. Will maybe put an end to the practice of hotels in Australia calling themselves "Sofitel" but not fully participating in A|Club.

I wonder if all those Mirvac properties are being removed from the GHA stable?

Presumably as they get renamed, they will leave GHA.

It will be interesting to see which Accor brands these properties are re-branded to.
Heading to Auckland later this year so it would be nice to get some mileage out of my A-Club Platinum now that Hyatt have left NZ.

Whoa. That is a huge addition to accor in ocenia.
So does that mean Mirvac will no longer be listed on the stock exchange? Accor is buying the whole thing?

Wow, I stayed at this Sydney hotel once. It was serious luxury with a great view of the harbor. I had a huge dining room, kitchen, etc. Basically a 2 bedroom luxury apartment as I recall.

Very nice indeed for Accor and for us :D
Now let's see if they will keep them or if they will do just like with Club Med.... revamp the thing and sell it back with an added value...
Great news, will be interesting to see what they are rebranded to
Quay West Grand in Circular Quay has the best views in Sydney

Quay West =/= Quay Grand Suites
Quay West is in The Rocks whilst the other is adjacent to Circular Quay. Both are lovely hotels though!

That is a very sore point for Aussie A|Club members visiting Brisbane or the Gold Coast. It is oft raised as a major bone of contention whenever our paths cross with Accor senior staff and marketing officers within that brand.
It is because these two properties are franchised locations who we understand were able to opt out of the program.
The only way these issues are going to get fixed is if members keep complaining and raising the issue. Everyone here who goes to visit these locations and chooses not to stay because they can't find a top tier Accor property that accepts A|Club needs to email customer service and tell them that. Then email that concierge or manager at the property and tell them the same.
The more people who let them know they are voting with their wallets because of this, the more likely they are to get the message and realise the stupidity of turning away good money just because they want to save a few bucks on a loyalty program.

And rightly so. My hope is that the new Accor properties (of which there are several in Brisbane (http://www.mirvachotels.com/-brisbane-cbd-hotels) alone, for example, and a nice-looking Gold Coast hotel (http://www.mirvachotels.com/sea-temple-surfers-paradise) for a different kind of guest) will do the trick, by upping the pressure on the Sofitels.
Especially if some of the new properties are branded as Sofitel... :p

i'm going to go out on a limb earlier here and suggest that their sea temple branded properties will not be included in any a-club privileges.... these are considered "creme da la creme" and i can attest to their quality!!
unfortunately for us :(

In my point of view all Hotels that use a Brand of Accor should accept AClub.
At the moment Mirvac do accept their own GHA Program, so why not do the same with AClub? Can't understand the reason why in Australia that much of Accor Hotel don't accept AClub?
By the way when shall these Hotels become Accor, any planned date so far?
Looking to book them for OCT this year.

Absolutely, it makes already a mockery out of the programme that some, especially Australian, hotels are not included.

I always avoid such Hotels in Australia that don't accept AClub. Why should I support them if they don't recognize my loyalty?

Absolutely, loyalty works both ways.

I often stay at a Sebel branded property on the Sunshine Coast, and asked the management about what would happen with the Accor take-over.
They are still awaiting information as to whether the properties would be rebranded, or if they would keep there own image within the Accor stable. The rooms are like self-contained apartments, and the property doesn't have food & beverage facilities etc, so hard to see how they could fit into the "Novotel" or Sofitel" type profile as is.
Also not sure if they will offer A-Club status match to GHA frequent guests....
They hope to know more in coning weeks or months
A friend stayed at the Sea Temple Surfers Paradise (Goldcoast) before. Amazing hotel and rooms, plus perfect location. However, Goldcoast isnt that big of a place and already has a Sofitel. Imo the Sea Temple is a lot better than the already existing Sofitel,... will be interesting to see what will happen.

Their official statement from one of their property in Facebook page when I was asking when Mirvac would join Le Club Loyalty Program :
"Not at this early stage as we are still running our rewards program. I will keep you posted once this has been integrated which will most likely happen once the hotels are re branded. Stay tuned!"
