I'll be flying JL for the first time in a few months from HNL-NRT and back. J tickets are over $5k, and upgrades from Y to J are not available using miles/copay.
I'm thinking of transferring from Starwood and getting an award ticket in either J or F. I've called JL but they weren't super helpful. Is it possible to see if an award is available and put it on hold for a few days while I transfer from starwoods? And in your experience, how long does it take for the points to show up in my Mileage Bank account? I'm afraid I'll put it on hold and by the time the points show up it won't be available and then I'll be stuck.
Also, is the difference between J and F on their 767 worth the extra points? Forgive my naivete but I've no experience with them.
