I’m aware that there are many miles/points hotels within driving distance of many Western USA ski resorts. For example there are some Hilton properties in the town of Jackson, about 10-15 minutes from Jackson Hole. And there are all sorts of properties in many hotel families near/in Salt Lake City about 45 minutes from several ski resorts.
I’m curious about lodging options that are very close, ski-in/ski-out or walking distance or free shuttle distance from the slopes, where one can earn miles and/or points. I’m familiar with the Embassy Suites Lake Tahoe which is walking distance to the Heavenly gondola. There is a Sheraton at the base of Steamboat. And the Holiday Inn Vail is a 5 minute shuttle ride to the lifts.
Wondering if others here know of other options.
(I know I could research it myself but it would take a fair amount of time and like many of us, I’m basically lazy in this regard. )
Thank you.

Well, in the Vail/Beaver Creek area there are Hilton, Starwood, Hyatt and Choice properties. Some are close-in and some you would need a shuttle bus but still not big deal for those communities. In the Park City area there are Marriott and Hyatt and Waldorf properites, again some near the slope and others a short shuttle ride. I guess if you have a truckload of points to redeem, the slopeside properties would appeal but I just can't fathom paying over 3-400$ nite at some of those places when I can get a condo w/more room for much less and usually slopeside. The market is awash w/ski properties. To each his/her own.

I think you'll get more help on the "West" forum. Off you go.

Whistler has a couple chains slope side
Aspen has a couple chains slope side
there aren't a tonnn though to be honest, and some of the options suck. like the hix in park city (which is no where near a ski slope or even close to ski in/out).

DoubleTree (Hilton) Breckenridge. Awesome location, definitely an easy walking distance to Peak 9. Even better (or equally as good), it's a great location for walking-access to the awesome town of Breckenridge. If so inclined, one wouldn't even need a car for their vacation: fly to DIA, shuttle to Breck, walk to the slopes and town, ... drink great local microbrews, eat great food... err, I digress (tho do watch the altitude) :D. Breck is really one of the great mountain resort towns, I've been to a bunch. (Tho' for skiing in Colo, I prefer Vail, during a not-overly-crowded time period.)
OT: Since this is my first post, let me say I have absolutely no financial interest in this (and actually, usually a dis-interest as a season pass holder, tho' not this year due to torn knee ligaments:( ). Also, for the record, as a long-time reader, first-time poster, I really wanted my first post to be thanking a few people (jmitchell69, happy..) in the thread about the 75k AA, but since that is now closed, I'll mention it here and hopefully get another chance to thank them personally... In the meantime, I'll be raising a wonderul glass of Malbec to them from Argentina next month, while still having six figures in my FF acct. So a million thanks to them and all of the other amazing posts/posters in other forums/threads from whom I've learned so much recently. I say hello and am so extremely grateful! [waves hello:)]

I'd add that there's a Marriott property at the base of Peak 9 that's ski in, but not really ski out. Pretty well spotted for anyone with little kids in ski school (since it's about a 20 second walk from the kid's ski school), but also about 5 minutes from Breck Brewery and the rest of the town.
The OP's question is a bit broad though. What kind of skiing are you looking for? What else do you want to do? How easily will you be able to get around? For instance, though it's no longer, there used to be a Marriott or Hyatt or similar on the mountain in Crested Butte. But if you can't get there easily (it's a 5+ hour drive from DEN) or aren't into that kind of skiing, it's probably not a helpful suggestion.

Thanks all very much.
Njx9 is correct. Not only was my initial post “a bit broad”, but it was also not as accurate as it could have been;). I should have specified that I was wondering about reasonably priced hotel type of accommodations as opposed to the “3-400$/nite” condos that rustyr referred to.
Rustyr and factory81, thank you. There are indeed many condo/timeshare types of lodging affiliated with the major hotel chains at many different ski resorts and when traveling with friends and/or family they would be ideal.
JDeux, re: Breckenridge Doubletree, thank you, exactly what I was hoping for. Apparently it’s new to Doubletree/Hilton just this past summer. I actually stayed there in 2002 when it was the Great Divide Lodge. I might just end up there again next month, seems reasonably priced.
Re: “What kind of skiing are you looking for? What else do you want to do? How easily will you be able to get around?” Looking for a mostly blue, with a little (single) black for when I’m feeling really good! Been skiing about 40 of the past 50 years, no longer into constant challenge, very happy with a day of cruising, always hoping for timing to work well and get a foot of new snow the night after I check in! Eat, ski, shower, eat, sleep, repeat as desired; what else would I do at a ski resort?:) (Okay, maybe a beer or 2 each night.)
My post was mostly informational although I might plan a quick solo trip (3 days skiing with a travel day at either end) in early January just to get a “fix” in. (Already booked, with family, for Canyons (just read they dropped the “The”) in late January and Whistler in late February.) RT airfare from LGA to DEN is only about $200 for almost all of January. I would fly to Denver and take a shuttle service to/from a resort and being solo for this trip, I don’t need a condo or other fancy lodging and I’m not much of a “night-lifer”, hence the desire for something reasonable and close to the lifts and slopes. Doubletree Breckenridge and Holiday Inn Vail fit this bill perfectly.
Thanks again for all the comments. ^
(BTW, does anyone know if Breckenridge and Beaver Creek are the same SKI area? I’ve only skied BRidge once and I don’t actually know anything about Beaver Run. I recall thinking they were 2 completely separate mountains but based on a little research yesterday and today it seems that Beaver Run might just be a different base area at BRidge. Is that correct? Did they used to have separate ski areas and lifts and tickets? Thanks again.)

Beaver Run is a chairlift/hotel at Breckenridge, Beaver Creek is a separate area just west of Vail. They're both part of Vail Resorts, however, so a ticket for one will generally (I'm sure there are some cheap tickets that are still exceptions) work at either.
And cheers, I think you've hit the two areas I'd look most closely at, given the rest of your post.

Yep, exactly, the former Great Divide. Note, they did a pretty extensive remode/update/refurbi$h to the property before the recent DoubleTree/Hilton affiliation/re-brand (and it actually might be owned by Vail's "Rock Resorts", i don't recall for sure). I haven't been inside since the update and don't have any reports on how it is, so please let us know what you think if you end up staying there. I usually stay at a friend's condo right next door, so that awesome location and walking past it during the remodel made me think of it.
Wow, great airfare for lga-dia. Good to hear about your family's Canyons plans, I also love Park City (and obviously the other UT resorts -Alta...). A huge fan of Beaver Creek, too [shout out to Lindsey Vonn who just won her first World Cup race on home turf! and now 3rd all-time wins!:) ]. So many great places in the west!! :D Hope you have a great time!

Thanks again njx9 and JDeux. Finally get the difference between Beaver Creek and Beaver Run. Obviously I was confused as I wrote both in my post above when I thought I was writing the same thing:confused:. I will post a report if I stay at the Doubletree.
Yes, I am very surprised by the low LGA-DEN airfares. There is tons of availability on multiple airlines for January and February at $219.40 (ai) which is significantly lower than most of the recent past. I would think airfares to DEN would be higher during ski season but maybe skiers don’t make up for the overall travel slowdown during the winter?
Yup, it’s ALL good! One of my rules of skiing: a “bad” day of skiing in Colorado/Wyoming/Utah is usually better than a "good" day in Vermont! And what a great reason for getting on a silver tube and accumulating some FF miles!:)
