I want to fly Singapore but everything is booked.
I have United or Delta. I'm leaning towards UNited since I have miles with them.
Should i spend the an extra $100 to fly on Nippon Air (United Alliance)?
Thanks!

You're leaving out a lot of info. From where, When, What class, what is important to you, Connecting or not?

Avoid the 744 in Y on United and go for the ANA 777 via Tokyo. You could possibly do a flight into HND and have a day in Tokyo before flying out on either direction.

SIA (Singapore Airlines) is Star Alliance and their miles will credit to Mileage Plus (United's program). Orbitz currently shows them as the cheapest 1-stop, and I assume that because it is showing on Orbitz it is available.

Why limit yourself to *A if you're not flying enough to earn status? Honestly, DL isn't that bad (compared to UA) and you also have a plethora of options of connecting through ICN, PEK, HKG, etc.
My preference would be SQ, CX, CA, UA (E+), NH and BR in that order (I don't like a 9 hour flight and a 7 hour flight back-to-back). You could probably find something cheap on CA through PEK, they're actually not a terrible airline. BR has premium economy if that's within your budget. Be open-minded, check out prices on OZ and KE while you're at it. It's all up to you, a connection in NRT or ICN will mean two long flights back-to-back while connecting through TPE or HKG will mean one long flight followed by a (relatively) short flight. HKG and ICN are great for layovers for non-status pax, NRT is pretty good, TPE and PEK aren't so good. If you connect through HKG on UA the tag-on from HKG is a domestic CO plane with no E+.

as far as orbitz, the 2 times i tried to check prices with orbitz with singapore air, it has been a problem. You do a search, and it lists the price as $1300. You go to "book" the flight, and it says "We're sorry, due to changes in availability, we're unable to confirm your selection with the airline. Please make another selection.", but returns to the search with a higher price. if you book the exact same flight at a higher price, it will book it just fine. I ended up going through a travel agency who booked it for an even cheaper price
