Hilton HHonors - 2,500 Bonus points

View Full Version : 2,500 Bonus points

2,500 bonus points on your next stay completed within 60 days of registering.

It's referred to as the "Service Center Thank You Bonus!"

Code AGNT

Some of the CSR's aren't up to speed on it yet so I would refer to it both ways. One person was told it's targeted for people that haven't stayed in awhile. Just call back I know someone who just signed up for HH this week and they got it added to their account.

That's cool. Sounds like a way for AGeNTs to "give" away points but not without getting something in return for the company.

Of course, unless something has changed, the agents are actually authorized to give points away. Any time you have any type of problem, or are just feeling particularly charming, you can always ask for a courtesy credit or "Service Center Adjustment", as it appears on your statement.

I've gotten them for up to 5,000 points, on more than one occasion.

When I called up the agent said that it was only for members who haven't had activity in their accounts recently. That being said, she talked to a supervisor and gave me the bonus anyway. She says that it will post after the next stay I have (not sure how much later).

I had a similar experience (and was told similarly), except the CSR transferred me to a supervisor. Both the initial CSR and the supervisor asked me where I had gotten the code. After replying that I had received it from an aquaintance, the supervisor explained to me that this was an internal code, that my friend had probably gotten it from FlyerTalk, and that the code was making the rounds on travel bulletin boards. She was very friendly and professional.

You do get credit for nights on point stays beginning 1-01-03. You also earn points on any incidental charges on point stays.

I hate to burst their bubble but I heard about the promo on another board but the person didn't know the code so when I called in to sign up I told the CSR that I wanted to pass it on to my father and the name of the promo as well as the code was the response I received. No mention that it was an internal code or some secret promo,

Thank you for the post! As luck would have it, tonight will be the "next stay" for us for the 2500 pts. I called and asked told the agent I wanted to sign up for promo code AGNT. She couldn't find it, and asked where I'd gotten it from. I told her it was in a mailing, that I guess I hadn't stayed in a while. She put me on hold, came back, and put in the code! Yahoo!

According to the TOS for HHonors, the account would be closed and points forefeited if there is no activity in 12 months.

No luck here either tryed 3 times and they hadn't heard of the offer. Both AGNT or "The Service Center Thank You Bonus".
The third try I was transferred to a supervisor he explained it was a special promo for people who were inactive for a disclosed amount of time. He asked me if I heard about this from a travel talk website I said yes and he told me those people do not run their HH program. Good for those who got it maybe next time I'll luck out too.

Regarding the response from Hilton on this promo. When they start implying the boards are at fault for sharing their internal code. Please feel free to tell them that the promo was shared on the board and that when I called in to sign up I asked the CSR what the code was so that I could pass it along to my father. There was NO mention that it was a secret code or from the inner sanctum of Hilton. The CSR just told me as natural as answering any other question. Hilton is always glad to have us share things that brings in extra and new business and as far as I was concerned this was no different. If THEY had not shared the code obviously I would NOT have posted it. The fault lies internally at Hilton not with these boards, we are some of Hilton's best customers.

No luck for me either. I was tranferred to a supervisor who explained that the promo was targeted for those who have not recently stayed at a Hilton family hotel. I was able to register for the AAGU promo, however, this supervisor said that I would have to complete 4 stays within 90 days to make the promo effective. Anybody else get that response for the AAGU?

I have been far more successful with CSR's by using honey rather than vinegar.

As far as the folks answering questions about where they heard about the promo code and mentioning a website or FT, why not say a friend? I use the old "my neighbor" was targeted or "my co-worker" was targeted. This usually works for me.

Thanks to FF I received the 2500pts. My wife called and was told,"this promotion is intended for HH customers who have not stayed with us in the last 12months and just where did you get this code?" My wife replied,"I received it from my husband, who like me is a loyal HH customer and not someone who has not stayed with you in 12 months, and now you are telling me he can have the bonus and I can't!" CS gave her the bonus as "a one time special". Now that we know what HH does for non loyal customers We can hardly wait for their promotion to those of us who have remained loyal. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

"Nothing for people who are loyal to Hilton"

I dare say, most here who were loyal to Hilton over the past 18-months benefited from two 50K promo bonuses, which translates into a GLON award, plus Gold status for two years. Even though Hilton is clawing some of this back with the increase to GLON and GLONP awards, I think they have been pretty generous to FTers.

So, I know you are new, MilesFromHeaven, but don't be so quick to chastise Hilton for this promo.

Starwood has been fighting this very problem for quite a while now. Thanks to the FT community, it's nearly impossible for the hotels/airlines to do targetted marketing promotions without pissing off the people who get left out. Last year, for example, there were several targetted promotions running at the same time and a lot of people weren't targetted. After a lot of customer complaints, Starwood gave anyone who was interested a one time choice of which promotion they wanted to register for. But that was to be the last time. Since then, they have been very strict on registering people for bonuses. It still irks people, but life goes on.

As for this one - I just called the Diamond Desk and registered. No questions asked. No problem. I'm sure I wasn't targetted because I had 80+ nights there last year.

1. My opinion: It isn't targetted. It isn't a promo, either. It's always been there and just now leaked out. (See my first post.)

2. Another opinion: With proper application of "honey rather than vinegar" you can probably get this many points -- or more -- added to your balance as a courtesy. (Again, see my first post.) My strategy, next time I have a problem, is to go for courtesy credit AND AGNT.

3. A third opinion: It seems this is following a similar pattern as CNTU. First, someone finds the code and posts it here. Second, a few people get it. Third, HH gets wise and stops giving it out. Fourth, they capitulate and decide to give it out no questions asked.

4. A fact: It's only 2500 points. CNTU was 50,000 points. Opinion about this fact: "Don't sweat the small stuff."

(Opinions may be like something else that everyone has, but I've got FOUR -- opinions, that is. :)

This is a perfect situation to ask for one. I'd ask for a double bonus (2 x 2,500) as compensation for your time on their snafu.

Hint: after a few minutes, you should be able to tell if you are talking to the "right" agent (by their attitude). So if you are striking out, your phone can happen to disconnect, and you can call back hoping to get a more generous rep.

First off, I commonly hang up on unfriendly CSRs, HH or otherwise. Usually with no notice.

That said, I find most of the HH CSRs to be pretty good, and rarely hang up. My strategy in general -- in all interactions -- is to try to make a good first impression. Be friendly, ask them how they are doing, with a smile that they can hear, and make them feel appreciated for answering the phone for me.

Now that they are my friend, I almost always give them a problem they can solve first. "Can you tell me if my most recent stay has posted?" even if I know it already has. Now they're feeling really good.

Then at right time, I present the unsolvable problem, usually something I know they can't help me with, like "wasn't I supposed to get an AGNT bonus?" But I ask with utter naivete, as if I'm fully expecting them to be my hero and take care of it. Sometimes that is enough right there to get a courtesy credit, but as they "try to figure it out", I will sigh, get frustrated, and start to turn into an unsatisfied customer.

This is where that first impression is so valuable. In their mind, I am a really nice and reasonable guy, someone they want to help. Now, through some screwed up glitch with their employer is turning into a less nice person.

If need be, I'll even get a little indignant. "Well, I think HHonors should credit me with the bonus, and even some extra points, because I shouldn't have to call up and put you in the situation of making their computer work."

Note that I'm asking HHonors to credit me, not them. And that I'm putting the CSR and me on the same side, fighting against the incompetent boss. At that point, they're usually ready to give me anything I want, and sometimes I get the most interesting tid bits out of them about the inside operations of my favorite points program along with my courtesy credit.

Now it seems a little weird having written all this out. Let me say this: I am not a scammer. Sheesh, I sound like Nixon -- but it's true, I'm not. I don't lie well, and I only do this when I have a bonafide problem, about three or four times in the last couple of years.

I don't advocate making things up, and, in general, I regret having to be so calculated when making a simple bonafide request.

But anyway, that's how I go about it. Hope this helps.

I was just denied twice in a row for this promo. I have never been denied a HHonors promo before and thought that this was strange. I was looking forward to getting 2,500 points for my award stay this weekend. Oh well, for 2,500 points, it's not worth it to keep on calling.

Although not targeted, I called on 2/3 and the agent signed me up. Neither my 2/3 stay nor my 2/10 stay showed the bonus. Has anyone else had this happen?

I just tried calling, and was told that the promo is only for people whose HHonors account had been recently closed.

I guess I'll have to call back tomorrow :-)

Thanks Superd1 for posting this http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif! I signed up immediately, then stayed at the Hilton Pittsburgh on 3-14 for the St. Patrick's Day Parade on a Point Stretcher award with a $0 folio. Under the new rules free stays count, so I got a Night Credit, a Stay Credit + my 2500 miles http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif!

I called a couple of times to sign up and was denied each time because I am a current/frequent customer.
