Thanks for the notice.

And I definitely love the marketing "speak" in those ads. Their "70%" off is a bit misleading as Universal normally sell those 4-day tickets for $155.99. So while you definitely do get some savings, it isn't quite as drastic as they make it seem. (i.e. no one would buy 4 one-day two-park tickets all to be used on one trip.)

Also note that for just a bit more, you can get a 1-yr Power Pass (http://www.universalorlando.com/Theme-Park-Tickets/Annual-Passes/Non-FL-Power-Annual-Passes.aspx) at $189.99. It is also good at both parks and usable for a year after 1st use. Note that a Power Pass does have a few black-out dates each year (but they don't bother me as I don't usually go during those times.)

So if you are planning on going more than once in a year, it might be cheaper to look at the annual pass offerings.

Thanks to the OP.

They have specials sometimes on the next-step-up passes, at around $229. The parking benefits alone for the higher passes can be pretty valuable if you are not staying onsite.

Sometimes you get a better price by buying online in advance, so read the details.

Also can make sense for one person to get the pass with the extra benefits, even if others in the party do not. Same with Disney; one annual pass is all that is needed for parking, room/restaurant discounts, etc.

Same with Disney; one annual pass is all that is needed for parking, room/restaurant discounts, etc. This is an excellent point. What I tend to do is to buy one full annual pass and the rest of the family gets the Power Passes. At Universal, the full annual pass can also get you some very nice onsite hotel room discounts (as well as restaurant and other discounts.)
