AirTran Airways A+ Rewards - I am going to miss AirTran in Bloomington (BMI)

I just had another great flight on AirTran out of BMI.

My flight from BMI to ATL was full, but my return flight from ATL to BMI was only half full.

I hope BMI can improve these number before June 2012, so Southwest might consider keeping AirTran/SouthWest in BMI.

All of my domestic travel is on AirTran out of BMI through April 2012, I am only one person, lets hope BMI and/or the central IL community can help.

I hear you Jim. The loss of Airtran is going to be tough for BMI. I still fly Airtran fairly frequently, but I am going to use Delta more now in hopes that we can at least keep them with CR7's to Atlanta (hate the CR2's).

I don't see Southwest changing their mind. We are just to close to their MDW hub, and just not a big enough station for the Southwest model.

I have had 4 flights out of BMI this month, and they were all full. Why does WN not realize what they are giving up?

A) Im not sure how well versed you are with airline economics, LF doesnt automatically mean that the P&L is good.
+
B) BMI is too small to fit into a high frequency WN model due to the type of network and costs.

Full flights aren't always profitable flights and less than full flights aren't always money losers. There is way more to it than just the plane is full = profit.

Also, it's possible than Bloomington is profitable but that management feels that there is *more* profit to be made by sending those resources (planes, personnel costs, etc) somewhere else.
