Hi,
Just wondering if there's a nice beach resort within maybe 90 minutes (by road) of BKK? Oh and the weather needs to be OK at the end of May.
Have been to some great beaches in Thailand but they're all a flight away and I want to keep the journey time to a minimum.
Thanks

We are in a somewhat similar situation. From my readings and research, it appears that either Hua Hin (southwest of Bangkok) or maybe Ko Samet, an island off the coast of Rayong on the eastern seaboard may be the best bets.

Agreed.
So you have to ask yourself, do you want an island stay or a mainland stay?

Consider Cha Am maybe. Very laid back quiet resort with a good beaches.
Mini vans from Victory monument go frequently throughout the day ~160 baht takes 2 hours.
Weekends tend to be busier. No reason to book as rooms are plentyful and cheap.

Thanks - looks like there are some interesting day trips around Hua Hin. Looking to rent a villa rather than hotel if we go there. Other than Trip Advisor, any other recommendations on reputable rental agencies (or rent by owner places)?
