Next summer after 4 July 2011.
Has any one made this recently, how did it go for them, and are there any recommendations.
We may or may not try to book a roomette. Any thoughts on them?

Remember with a roomette you get your meals as well.
Book the roomette today and then decide if you want to keep it. The only thing that can happen is the price of the roomette WILL go up if you wait.
If you cancel BEFORE picking up the tickets the price is fully refundable

Just to clarify: there is no Amtrak service to Bloomington, IN. There is service to Bloomington, IL, at the Bloomington-Normal station, but this isn't particularly close to Bloomington, IN.

I meant Bloomington-Normal, IL. Typoed it. Thanks for checking up on me though.

If you can afford it, book the roomette. You can cancel a room up to 7 days before departure to get a full refund. Meals are included as well! It's not the most scenic compared to other Amtrak routes, but it's not bad. There is a Sightseer Lounge Car, which you should take advantage of during your journey.
