Has anyone here successfully toilet trained their cat?

I am working on it with the "roaster pan" method.

We have progressed to cat doing his business in a aluminum roaster pan filled with litter insdie the toilet. Next step is reducing amount of litter, then gradually making a hole in the bottom of the pan and then removing pan altogether.

Does anyone know, IF this works, will the cat use other toilets?

Hopefully someone else has had better luck with that method. When we tried with our two cats one was progressing well but the other (who isn't as sure-footed) didn't take to it at all. We may try again, but with a sturdier commercial project (so that it doesn't "give" as easily when there's a hole in the middle).

He's not putting any weight on the pan- there's no way he could be and not falling in. He's a nearly 20 pound Maine Coon mix. 3 days of going in the pan now, we are going to take this really slowly, but so far he seems to be totally taking to it.

I once talked to a guy who said he toilet trained their 8-10 year old cat. I would love to try it with my younger cat, but since we have a senior cat (20), we think it would be too complicated to have litter for one and toilet train one.

Good luck!
