Amtrak Guest Rewards - Family Bedroom to Bedroom -- Change Fee Day of travel

Just asking.
Presently holding a Family Bedroom on Train #3 ---- on the day of travel if they still have Bedrooms available --- do they reduce the price or do they charge what is listed on the web page --- for me to change now they want an additional $369.00 ---- which makes the Bedroom cost $635.00 + the paid rail fare.....
On day of travel (if available) do they lower the price or would still want the $635.00 ......
I don't have any experience on how Amtrak sells off unused/unsold space.

Unsold accommodations can be purchased on-board at the lowest price bucket. However, I don't see how this would enable you to exchange the Family Bedroom to a regular bedroom, since you can't get a refund on your existing accommodation charge after the train has departed.

There is no break for booking on day of departure, but once on board, the conductor can sell you an accommodation at the low bucket price. When upgrading from a previously purchased accommodation, the original accommodation charge is credited toward the low bucket cost of the upgrade accommodation.
