Hi All,
I'm visiting SFO from 1/6-1/13 and will be under 25 by 3 months (birthday 1st week of April). It's a business trip (I run/own my own business). Dollar has the best price but they charge $25/day extra at SFO for 21-24 year olds.
That's basically multiplying the cost of renting a car by 3x. Does anyone have any recommendations?

My suggestion is Hertz Underage Coupon PC 144314, pickup from a neighborhood store, one-way to SFO.

1)Postpone your trip till you are 25.
or
2)Set up a corporate account for your business
Dollar T&C's
What is your minimum age requirement?
The minimum age requirement is 21 years old unless otherwise mandated by state law. Dollar business accounts may waive the underage driver fee as a negotiated corporate account benefit for qualifying companies.

Most Dollar and Thrifty large corporate accounts waive underage fees. Thrifty's small-business-targeted SmartBiz program (with lower/nonexistent minimum revenue commitments) does not, and I can't find a comparable Dollar small-business-targeted program.

I was never able to find a way to consistently (and legitimately) get the underage fee waived at Dollar or Thrifty when I was under 25. The best I did was negotiate with the agent that I'd buy something like an upgrade, LDW, or prepaid gas if they waived the underage fee. I had reasonable (but not 100%) luck with that. My 25th birthday was one of the happiest of my life. (I rented a car fee-free just to celebrate. :p)

Good advice. By getting off airport (and you don't have to go far -- there's a HLE less than a mile away) you'll save $30+ in SFO taxes.
Note that for that coupon, "The Young Renter Fee may appear on your reservation confirmation, but will be deducted at time of rental."
