Delta just bought 3% of Gol, gets a seat on the board, so I suppose that we will be seeing a lot more cooperation between them and their eventual entry into Skyteam.
SkyTeam - Gol coming............(maybe)View Full Version : Gol coming............(maybe) hfly Dec 9, 11, 12:18 pm Delta just bought 3% of Gol, gets a seat on the board, so I suppose that we will be seeing a lot more cooperation between them and their eventual entry into Skyteam. g.yau Dec 9, 11, 1:03 pm Delta said that the 3% isn't to entice GOL into skyteam, they bought 3% so that GOL would not be able to consider any other alliance in the future (Don't understand how such a small percentage can control GOL's decisions) http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203501304577084802263746384.html Delta's investment essentially keeps Gol from joining a rival group, said John Thomas, global head of the aviation and travel practice at L.E.K Consulting. "Gol may not join SkyTeam but they could align with [Delta partner] Aerolineas and look for opportunities in Mexico." hfly Dec 9, 11, 1:39 pm Side agreement perhaps. OTOH by them saying that makes me believe that it is in the cards. Supersonic Swinger Dec 11, 11, 4:21 pm Well it certainly makes it unlikelier that Gol with join any of the other alliances: http://www.centreforaviation.com/analysis/deltas-investment-in-gol-has-skyteam-and-broader-us-latam-strategic-implications-64237 N830MH Dec 11, 11, 9:41 pm Well it certainly makes it unlikelier that Gol with join any of the other alliances: http://www.centreforaviation.com/analysis/deltas-investment-in-gol-has-skyteam-and-broader-us-latam-strategic-implications-64237 I don't see it happening anytime soon unless GOL will ever considering to join any alliance. If GOL will ever join Skyteam or Star Alliance. That will be a logical choice for GOL. They have to choose. |
