Yes, I realize I have had several problems with rental cars in this city. But this company tops the cake. Not only did they tow the car that had all of my belongings in it and never provided any notice nor any information. After 2 hours of searching the airport parking lot looking for the car and finally being told that it had been towed I went to Alamo to figure out why they towed it. The manager said that they tried calling 3 times. When I asked what number they used she gave me a number that has never been mine. Long story short - today when I went to the counter to get my belongings I had to deal with their station manager who was rude, belligerant, and unhelpful. When she ordered me to sit down and I said no, she called 3 police to the scene. Not only was I scared, embarrassed, and upset, but outraged that this person acted so unprofessionally. Tonight I found out that they put an additional $1200 on my credit card. I am so frustrated at this point. Just wanted to warn others that you may want to be careful renting from Enterprise or Alamo (same ownership). I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of the State as well.

Did they give you an explanation of why they towed the car?

Since you don't provide any facts, there's not much to be said. Why did they tow? What is the $1,200 for?

I can't provide further information since they haven't provided me with answers to the questions that I have asked (which are the ones you are asking). There is quite a lot to be said. You don't tow a car without notifying the person, you don't take a person's belongings and not return them for days, you don't charge $1200 without any explanation.

Well - let us know when you find out and maybe folks here can help. In the meantime, is there any chance that you didn't return the car when you had said you would?

They were notified 4 times of extensions. That was all documented in their system since the manager showed me that. I have now filed a formal complaint with the state's Attorney General's office hoping that they will do something. I will report back if I hear anything else. I just think that there are enough other companies out there that provide good service that ALAMO and ENTERPRISE should NOT be on your list.

No idea what Enterprise had to do with Alamo having its car picked up when not returned as contracted, but as to Alamo, never had anything but good experiences with them.

I guess we just have to wait for you to get the facts of what caused Alamo to have its car picked up and impose a rate which presumably is some kind of penalty rate for late returns, etc. Surprised Alamo CS didn't give you that information when you called in.

Given your history with PIT (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/other-car-rental-programs-partners-ie-alamo-enterprise/1231939-please-do-not-rent-enterprise-my-experience.html), you may be better off avoiding this station altogether, regardless of the provider. Taxi anyone? ;)

Whole lot of strange '...' in there. I second the taxi recommendation.

Edit: After reading your other complaint, taxis, definitely. After having worked the other side of that counter and hearing all kinds of sob stories and having to call the cops myself on customers who could not imagine they were doing anything wrong or being unruly (our surveillance cameras proved otherwise) I seriously recommend to you buy a car or take taxis. Everyone will be better off.

Sadly, sometimes you have to. Speaking as a rental manager, I've had to repossess cars where I've attempted to notify the person in vain (though it sounds like in this case they had the wrong number which may be their fault). Based on this thread and your other one, I don't think rental cars are for you. Either that or you should give them a far longer date than you expect to keep the car so instead of worrying about extensions, you can just return early.

As a follow-up to some of the snarky remarks directed at me. . .I have rented from Hertz 4 times this month and have not had one problem. Additionally, the police who showed up agreed with me that there wasn't any reason for the station manager to have called him in. I have also contacted Christopher Elliott to assist with this matter as well. Enterprise and Alamo and Payless are all owned by the same owners.

Nice. Hertz is a good outfit. No reason we should ever hear you complaining about them.

I have been on both sides of the rental counter and having read both of your threads (the Enterprise one as well) I have to say, there must be more here to this story than you are telling.

Actually, that's Enterprise, Alamo, and National.

Payless is its own deal.
