This is a great find for those with a flight leaving early or arriving late. I'm surprised that the rate for a suite and for a regular room are the same. I doubt it is the case, but it almost makes one suspect that there may have been a pricing error or two involved. MightyTravels Dec 8, 11, 11:04 pm Great find. I found it on all wyndham sites for this price. Even lower 59.25 MXN some days. I made some bookings and plan to use it for my stays for my winter promotion run https://www.wyndhamrewards.com/trec/consumer/promoReg.action?promoRuleCode=W11PROMO&vanityUrl=treats&variant=uk. Mike cupps Dec 19, 11, 8:37 am Just checked my credit card and I was charged $66 for the one night stay on 12/13. I just sent them my email to protest this incorrect charge with my copies of my reservation of the charge which should have been closer to $5 All of my reservations clearly show what I was to have been charged. However, as a precaution I do plan to cancel the other reservations not taken yet. Anyway else cancelling theirs as well? MightyTravels Dec 19, 11, 9:32 am Yeah I cancelled them all. It's just too much effort to get them to straighten it out. It will eventually all work out but too much hassle for me. There are plenty of ~$25 no-show opportunities with zero hassle. I'll pay a bit more but have the points next week. MrHalliday Dec 19, 11, 10:37 am --------- MightyTravels Dec 19, 11, 10:42 am As it has become clear this is not working out, i.e. a no-show earning Wyndham points for $5 or so... I think it will - just need to fight that charge. I think with the confirmation mail we have a strong argument. And I think the no-show will count for the promo as a stay - we just need to follow up on it. I haven't had any charges posted or pending, although I did get a message from AMEX that the hotel had tried to charge my card, and AMEX denied the charge due to CID incorrect ! Smart move - I'll remember that next time :) cupps Dec 19, 11, 12:03 pm I have also cancelled my remaining reservations as I am unsure if some of this blatant disregard for the actual rates booked is because the hotel is not in the US. You would have likely gone to the hotel and been charged the rate in dollars. They probably would not have contacted you ahead of time. Mike jcmitchell21 Dec 20, 11, 9:38 am Virtually every little scheme and trick on this board causes SOMEONE to lose. Whether it be Ramada in this case, or a bank with a credit card signup bonus, or some other situation. A coupon code or promotion could be considered lessening the revenue of a company. It's actually costing the hotel less money by me not staying there than you staying there. They don't have to clean up a room after me. Unless you intend to pay the corrected price and not the mistake rate, then you don't really have an argument. Added: The actual mistake is a misplaced decimal point. I am being charged for 830 pesos all-in instead of 83 pesos. david4455 Dec 20, 11, 1:58 pm I always suspected that the mistake rates were too good to be true and I would end up paying the " correct" rate. cupps Dec 21, 11, 10:43 am I am sure that others will have comment on this as well, but thought I would share an experience that I personally had with a Mistake rate. In late 2009 there was a mistake rate of $19 per night for the Barton Creek Resort and Spa in the Austin, TX area. I booked 4 nights just on the chance that it would work in comjunction with a potential Spring Break trip in March 2010. Well, I can tell you that in at least my case, but I believe also in a number of others that this rate was HONORED by the resort. The normal reduced rate for this resort is close to $180 per night. In the end, this resort got my additional incremental spend from the spa and dining services as well as the good feelings from myself which resulted in my telling about this DEAL to many of my friends and co-workers. This was free publicity and positive at that for the resort. Did that translate in to enough to offset the mistake rate, I do not know, but it was a benefit to them honoring the rate for me at least. The bottom line is that yes, mistake rates, are honored by airlines, hotels, etc. It just appears that in this case the hotel in question has decided to take another approach altogether. Is it a hassle to me personally in this instance, yes. Will I participate again when a mistake rate arises that works for me, you bet I will. Just another view and purely my own. mikeef Dec 23, 11, 8:00 am It's getting interesting now. I have one reservation left at 47 MXN. No cancellations allowed. I contacted the hotel and told them that I expect them either to cancel the reservation for free or give me the room at the price on the confirmation. Still waiting to hear back from them, but I have a feeling that this will end up with a phone call to get everything taken care of. Mike jcmitchell21 Dec 23, 11, 8:09 am I left all my reservations (6) in place. After I received my first incorrect charge, I opened a case file with Ramada for them to look into my reservations. Did your card get charged for a no-show? hard2please Apr 5, 12, 6:02 am OK, I have to jump in here with my story. I was starting to think I was the only one who got burned... I booked 3 reservations (in December) thinking I might actually go to MEX. Then I heard people talking about getting credit for no-shows (and their current promotion). When I realized I wouldn't be able to go after all, I thought about leaving the reservations just for the stay credit. I decided it was too risky (had a feeling I would be charged way more than the $5 rate I booked), so I cancelled online. And I assumed that would be the end of it.... Well, my credit card statement came and there were 2 separate charges for 2 of the reservations. And of course they were for more than the rate I had booked (it added up to over $100 for 2 nights) I don't even know how they arrived at the dollar amounts they charged. When I checked my Ramada account online, there was no trace of the stays, and of course no points! I called Ramada customer service and explained that I had cancelled within the stated cancellation period. I gave her the cancellation numbers. She said that they would have to forward it to the Ramada in Mexico City and that only THEY could credit the charge back. She said they would contact me. They never did. I finally called again and she tried to contact them again. Finally, after several tries, she gave up on them and said she would send me a check for the amount I was charged. I got the check about a week later. Sorry to be so wordy, but I was/am really angry about this. In all my years of making and occasionally cancelling hotel reservations, I have never been charged for a reservation I had cancelled. And I certainly never expected it to be so hard to straighten out this mess. BE VERY WARY OF THIS HOTEL! Yinzer Apr 5, 12, 11:28 am OK, I have to jump in here with my story. Tired of being on the phone and way past repeating yet again that they have a legal responsibility to address this. Have already given an exact amount I was owed. After multiple calls they still have my money. It's been months. CS totally botched an attempt to refund me. Freaking ridiculous on so many levels. hard2please Apr 5, 12, 5:04 pm Me? Did you dispute the amount with your credit card company (assuming they charged your cc)? I started to do that when it looked like it was going to drag out too long with Ramada customer service. Ouch! zig2 Nov 5, 12, 8:41 am Has anyone had any experience in actually staying in the hotel? I booked rooms for next year and I am planning to stay. But if it is 70$ instead of $5, I will choose another place. NewbieCollegeFlyer Nov 7, 12, 9:31 pm Has anyone had any experience in actually staying in the hotel? I got in on the Hilton AUS airport, actually went and had a nice 4 day weekend in Austin over Superbowl weekend. However, I don't want any surprises if I show up in Mexico, extremely tight/ no budget for travel. My stay isn't until January and I booked it months ago so I would assume they would have cancelled my reservation within the last 4 months, but I received no e mails yet. I actually plan to go, but the last time this happened at this Ramada, did they offer any bonus points or incentives for cancelling a reservation? Update: My reservation is not showing up on their website. Do I have any recourse? justchris82 Nov 16, 12, 8:43 am [QUOTE=NewbieCollegeFlyer;19645198]I too am interested i this. There are a few hotels in the Centro Historico, such as the Hotel Washington and Hotel Rioja which are decent budget hotels and can be had for about $20 a night. The Hotel Washington in particular will allow you to make a reservation without a credit card. |
