Hilton HHonors - Any pointers for a HH newbie welcomed

Recently got comped to HH Gold. I would really like to give all my business to Hilton, as Starwood was disappointing. Occasionally I do Holiday Inn but that's another story. Anyway, in 3 weeks I'm taking a trip to Chicago and Vegas. Staying for few days at the Chicago Hilton Towers, 1 day at the Chicago O'Hare Hilton, and few more days at the Las Vegas Hilton. Any suggestions to get the most out of my stays. Any special point promotions I'm not aware of. Are there any promo codes? Basically any helpful info would be appreciated.
What if any chance to get upgraded at the above properties as a Gold? Do I need to ask, or will they be automatic if available? Is there a special check-in desk for HH members?
Thanks in advance.

I would recommend doing a search on these properties, as well as on Gold upgrades - this may give you many of the answers you seek. Please come back with any specific questions you need.

I have also found the Hilton web site is full of specials these days -

thanks

Welcome to the Hilton forum! The best way to get upgraded in Las Vegas is check in at their desk in the airport.

If you are looking to maximize your potential earnings and future gold status, then you need to move to a different hotel every night to get more stay credits. If you plan on enough of them that it won't matter, then it's not a huge deal.

Starwood had a problem with that and they would classify different hotels in the same city as one stay. How does HH feel about that?
Thanks San man for the Vegas tip.

The no annual fee HHonors Amex will earn 5 points per dollar on anything spent at a HHonors hotel, including taxes. That's like a 50%+ bonus on base points. And Amex Platinum perks for no fee.

And yes, I'd be saying that even if I wasn't digging for a referral bonus. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

It does not matter to Hilton, they do not classify in the manner that *wood does.

PS: get the Amex Hilton to max your points while staying at Hiltons.
