Was reading through the ways to earn points, and came across one that seems too good to be true-Under "earn", under the shopping, there's an offer to earn 7000+ points for signing up for an Angies List account. Under tems and conditions, it doesn't specify WHAT kind of membership.....when I clicked on Shop Now, I see there is a monthly membership, for only $7.60 or so, with the new account fee added in. Will this work? I'm going to give it a try, since it's only $7, but surely they won't give me 7,140 points for a 1 month membership....surely not??? Anyone else tried this? Even if I have to buy a 1 year membership at $25, that's a pretty good return on investment, it seems to me....anyone earn points through this?

I tried to sign up as either way it is a good deal. There is no place to put my AGR number.
So I called Angie and they are going to research and get back to me today as to how to get the credit and the minimum time.
Interestingly my monthly is $8.25 with fee but only $17.00 for one year with fee I am in northern NY with a zip of 13624.
I wonder if price is location dependent
NB: ANGIES list says they are not aware of any AGR offer. I worked with them and got a screen shot ETC for them to try and figure out what is going on. My guess is someone started before the gun went off. I am promised a callback with updates. I will inform everyone as I get info

Thats how the "shop" works on AGR, there's never a place to put in your AGR number-You have to log in at AGR, and click the "shop now" link. Your number supposedly goes with it. Looks like it's the same at all the shop for points links, not one I've looked at yet wants my AGR number....trying to figure out the Itunes now, I think I have to use a pre-paid gift card for some reason....
I started checking, as I just realized I missed out on 4000 points from a Bass Pro shop purchase I just made a week ago.....bummer. I didn't know about the AGR partnership, and didn't link to the BP website from the AGR one, so no points for me....not going to happen again!

No In this case I just received another call back from Angie's list and it appears they are NOT READY to go live. The Angie's list rep is working on the problem. I was logged into my account when I tried signing up but Angie's is not prepared to accept the offer. The I.T. folks at Angie's were unaware of the affiliation until I called. The feeling is marketing has forgot to tell I.T. so that nothing has been programmed at Angie's list end to allow for Amtrak referral.
They promised to call when they get it straightened out.
If you do go ahead without waiting for a possible fix let me know how you fare.

Interesting. Ok, I may still get a 1 month, and see what happens, maybe AGR will still honor it. WHo knows, for $7 it's worth a shot.

except it may disqualify you from getting them by signing for a year at a later time as it may not be open to previous members.
By the way it probably would be Angie's list to honor the points not AGR.

Ah, I think I've found something. When I click on the AGR link to Angies List, the resulting page has "affiliates" in the URL, along with "CJ" which COULD potentially mean it's an affiliate relationship through Commission Junction. So that might be why Angies List folks are not too much aware of the relationship with AGR, as they probably only know that they have an affiliate program.
Edit: Ding Ding Ding we have a winner: Here (http://affiliate.angieslist.com/)'s their affiliate page, and if you click "Apply", you're taken to a site on cj.com for Commission Junction.
So I guess the points do come directly from AGR after they've probably received notification from CJ that you registered. The remaining unknown question though is whether signing up for the one month gets you the 7,000+ points or if you need to do a full year, or other.

Interested in this offer. I had toyed around with joining Angie's List but mediocre reviews initially steered me away. But a few bucks for 7,000 points--wow. If anyone successfully gets the points, please post.

It must be location-dependent, as my prices were as follows:
Monthly - $3.25
1 Year - $12.00 ($1.00/month)
2 Years - $21.50 ($.90/month)
3 Years - $31.00 ($.86/month)
4 Years - $38.00 ($.79/month)
I've contacted AGR by email to see how long a membership is required to get the points... will let you all know if/when I hear back.

Well, the only response on this that I've gotten is that I need to call AGR to find out the answer, and the response was 3 days after I sent the inquiry.
What's worse, the link to Angies List has been taken down off the AGR website, so it looks like the deal is dead anyway. :td: :(
Edit to add: Or possibly was never "alive" to begin with.

I actually signed up for the deal.
I finally cancelled my membership because no one would guaranty my points
ANGIES LIST customer service ended up as useless
Amtrak's response was not promising and states in part
If you made a purchase while the offer was live, then we will work with you to see that the purchase qualifies and if it will earn points.
So I may have gotten the points if I spent more time following up.
I cannot understand how AGR can allow offers using their name without trying out the offer to make sure it is real.
This is the third foul up in the past 6 months.
The 2 car rentals and now Angie's list.
Poor show from Amtrak Guest Rewards

Look at the bright side - AGR monitors this forum and takes action when we find things that are broken. :)

...ANGIES LIST customer service ended up as useless...
Considering that Angies List mission is to review service providers, THAT is problematic.:td:

I ended up not doing it after all, so I guess I'm out. Probably a good thing, doesn't sound like I would have gotten the points anyway, and would have just been a big hassle. I DID just make an order through Barnes and Noble, supposed to get 6 points/$, should net me a cool 2500+ points for something I was going to buy anyway. We'll see!

I signed up on Dec. 7th and I have yet to receive my points. I have been dealing with AGR customer service and they are stating there isn't any "record" of my purchase, which is lame in my opinion. I have used the AGR shopping mall at least 6 times in last 6 months for other things, and it has always worked correctly for me.
Even if this offer was a "mistake" offer, AGR should do the right thing and honor the points for the handful of people who even saw the offer and signed up correctly before it was pulled.
Did anyone else sign up and actually get the points, either automatically or after dealing with AGR customer service???

AGR is probably right there is no record of your purchase.
I believe that an outside vendor is responsible for your points much like chase is responsible for your CC purchase points.
Try contacting AGR Insider in a PM to see if it helps
