China - Beijing Nightlife?

My wife and I would be visiting Beijing from 8 December to 13 December and was wondering if there are any good bars/clubs to checkout in Beijing that's relatively safe and perhaps English speaking? My wife is American and I'm Chinese (HK, so Cantonese for me)

Perhaps theres an area we can explore and/or bar crawl?

We're both in our mid/late twenties.

Well, Sanlitun has the highest concentration of bars in the city, so it's a pretty safe bet. Recently, I've found it to be borderline boring, but part of this is surely due to the fact that I've been there a gazillion times.

Other areas include Chaoyang Park West Gate + Solana (very nice in the summer), Goulou (including Houhai, Nanluo, Beiluo, etc), and Russia Town, and Wudaokou plus a few other one off spots in Haidian.

You might also want to check out Spark in the Place (Shimaotianjie) or Xiu at Yintai. The problem with that approach is that if they aren't good, there aren't many other comparable options around.
