We have a hotel provided by Srilankan airlines on our return flight BKK-CMB-LHR as there isnt a connecting flight until the next day, could anybody tell me which hotel they tend to use and is its self explanatory when we get to the airport on where to go to get the vouchers etc? We have called Srilankan air and they have confirmed they have us booked for a hotel but cant tell me which one at the moment.

thanks for your help

Not sure as of this day, but you can read past discussions here:

It sounds good. I hope to do this same drill next August.:D

Do a search on Google. Lonely Planet (found on my Google search) has some dated info as well....

I think if your a First or Business class passenger, then they'd probably put you up at the Gateway Hotel Airport Garden Colombo (formerly called the Taj Airport garden hotel).

There's another smallish hotel in the vicinity of the airport area, don't remember the name though.

I did this exact route at Easter, and the only issue was the amount of people queueing for the hotel booking thing.

It is definitely worth being quick off the mark if you can.

I was taken to the Jetwing Blue Negombo - lovely and on the beach, although it was dark when I arrived and left, so I didn't have a chance to enjoy it fully!

I think they just shove you wherever fits and has spaces!!!

Don't expect to be taken back to the airport early, our bus to take us back was almost an HOUR late.

For the price, the service was perfectly acceptable and nice not to have to sort it out by yourself.

Hope this helps, if you want any more info pm me:)

First of all it is NOT called a Night stopover service but rather STPC.

Last week I had a longish transfer @ CMB when flying from BKK to DXB. The overall process was completely painless. I hadn't applied to the STPC before but was informed about the hotel when checking in at Bangkok.

Upon arriving to CMB there was a young lady waiting for me at the jetbridge with a sign that had my name properly spelled. She picked up the info, escorted me through immigration/customs (wasn't required to fill any forms) to the arrivals hall where I needed to wait about ten minutes before my car arrived.

The hotel that they had chosen for me was the Jetwing Sea in Negombo. The hotel used to be Seashell but had been recently renovated. It was actually far better than what I was expecting.

The only downside was that the return car arrived three hours before scheduled departure time. Two hours would have been more than enough.

Spent the time sipping champagne at the lounge....
