Hi there ORD. Will be in the City ( my first time, well been at ORD many times but not outside security ) Looking to meet for drinks and some apps around 7:00 pm or so. I like low brow places that are fun and show the city's character ( ie no chains or fancy spots ) would like to see some of the city as well ( walking around after ) See my link that I posted on Chowhound for ideas that have been thrown out:

I will not be meeting any of Hounds, but would realy like to meet some ORD FTers. After my fun overnighter in BOS last week Im up for another.

JY1024 said that he may reach out to Sweet Willie to see if they will be available.. Anyone else??

Hope to see some ORD FTers..

Tomorrow I am free.

See my link that I posted on Chowhound for ideas that have been thrown out.the suggestions are all over the board & not really concentrated in one area, if you are interested in seeing Chicago, that means the Loop if you haven't been to our city before. (sort of like never having been to NYC before & visiting a bourough other than Manhattan, you will have fun & it is NYC but not the essence of what most would consider the heart of NYC)

Here is the definition of an Italian Beef Sandwich: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_beef

I have a client who is on a flight from ORD ~8:30pm on 12/8, I should have dropped him off at the airport well before then, so I should be free on Thurs evening.

Thank iluv2fly. The correct day is the 8th. As a Mod think you can change the title date. I just updated my first post. Sorry to hear that you will be out of town. Have fun in Vegas..

Do you like the low brow places??Longman & Eagle is in no way lowbrow! Low key in terms of dress/ambiance but not food wise.
Wiener circle is great but only LATE night when everyone is drunk, otherwise it is just another Chicago hot dog stand, not a bad thing but not the reason why someone suggested it to you.
I haven’t been to Belly Shack, sounds interesting, kind of the like a place where we had a Do this past summer Del Seoul.
I also haven’t been to the Middle Eastern place but all ME places that I’ve been to in the city are low brow, it almost always is a good tasty low-cost meal. There is a good selection of ME places near the intersection of Kedzie & Lawrence.

Fabulous pictures of almost 50 different Italian beefs from around Chicagoland:

There's also a Chicago dinner do planned for 7:30pm on the 8th that the OP might be interested in attending.

Urban Belly isn't particularly low-brow either, nor is it a place to go for drinks. It's BYOB.

Are you looking for a bar or restaurant? If you're doing the dinner DO in Greektown, I'd suggest Holiday at Randolph & Halsted for drinks. It's a bar/diner, nothing fancy.

ETA: Keep in mind that many Middle Eastern places don't have a liquor license, either, and may discourage BYOB, too.
