Other European Frequent Flyer Programs - Malev- Business vs. Economy LGW-BUD
Is there any significant difference between business and economy on the 2-1/2 hour 8:30 a.m. flight from LGW-BUD ? More leg room? Is a hot breakfast served? The seat map looks like it's 2 across seating on the left side and 3 across on the right side, like the old BA configuration. Thinking of using BA miles. Do they allow pre-reserved seating at time of booking award seats in business class?

Well, after all it's MA, so don't expect too much. They used to serve a hot breakfast, not sure if the still do, but I do think so actually.
The seating is 2-3 in J and 3-3 in Y on the 736 and 737 aircrafts. The seats are slightly different from the Y configuration as they are somewhat wider. I believe the pitch is 38" and thus better than in Y.
MA has a brand new lounge in BUD which is actually work visiting. It doesn't compare to the old lounge and was re-opened when the opened the new sky terminal a few month back.
Thanks for your response. Are the D-E-F seats in business class just as wide as the A & C seats or are the wider seats only on the left side of the cabin? Do they actually assign business class passengers to the middle seat on the right side or do they block it?

The business class was always quiet empty when I was aboard - max. 2-3 pax, so I cannot tell you is they leave the middle seat empty. However, I think they would assign it as well in case they are fully booked in J (which is a pretty rare event...).
A-C are the same seats as D-E-F. As a matter of fact, the first row(s?) in Y has the same J seats, so if you don't care for the tier points, miles and the J service but just for a decent seat, you might also go ahead and book Y and put yourself in row 4 (D-E-F). But on the other hand - if you are burning some miles, just book J. I'm pretty sure that the business cabin will be rather empty.

It would be a disservice, as 4 A-C are biz seats and 4 D-E-F are normal Y seats.

You are right - Perhaps it was row 3 then and the curtain was moved forward as the J load was low, but I do remember sitting on 'D' in the first row of Y and it definetly the J seat. 4AC has the J seating, but actually in Y.

Yes, on normal loads the curtain is behind row 3. It's very easy to see on OLCI - the biz seats are with A-C only

Row 4 on the B737 is in Biz config, so indeed on low loads also enjoyed by Y pax ;)
