All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - ORD-NRT March 2012View Full Version : ORD-NRT March 2012 bcj1949 Dec 3, 11, 12:25 pm Flying paid J to Narita in March. Considering ANA. Beard Papa Dec 3, 11, 1:59 pm As of today, no, they will not have retrofitted existing metal to the new layout on the ORD or IAD routes. Both routes are the least traveled on ANA to NRT and I'd be surprised if they got to it before 2Q 2012. In fact, something in my gut tells me ANA may even discontinue these routes altogether, or perhaps make them seasonal. I'm currently booked in F on an ORD-NRT route myself in Feb; out of 247 seats only 22 are filled. Of course that will change, but not by 200, prob not even by 100. The last known refit is LAX-NRT by the end of Jan. Unless ANA posts different on their site in the next few weeks, ORD-NRT will not have the new staggered J or square suites in F by March. ande777emt Dec 3, 11, 2:09 pm Flying paid J to Narita in March. Considering ANA. Will they have the new J seat lay out. Anyway to know for sure. Thanks. The only way to know for sure if if NH announces it. Your chances of having a newly configured AC on ORD-NRT are slim to none as NRT-LAX and NRT-SFO routes have recently been upgraded to the new product. So far the only routes with the inspiration of Japan line are JFK/SFO/LAX/LHR/FRA-NRT. ande777emt Dec 3, 11, 2:16 pm As of today, no, they will not have retrofitted existing metal to the new layout on the ORD or IAD routes. I would call dropping IAD/ORD-NRT service doubtful. Seat maps are a poor predictor of loads and ORD-NRT-ORD, IME, in the 7 times I've done this this route, C has been at least 80% full. NH has also had enough of a premium market at IAD that they maintain their own lounge at IAD, for at least a decade, for their premium pax instead of forcing them to use an awful RCC. ainternational Dec 3, 11, 4:08 pm Flying paid J to Narita in March. Considering ANA. Will they have the new J seat lay out. Anyway to know for sure. Thanks. What else are you considering? I'd guess UA? The new configurations on the NH planes aren't nearly as drastic a difference with UA's new seats. Meaning that I'd still take NH C (old) over the newer UA C any day. But that's because I value the soft product and cuisine more than the hard product I suppose. If you are in paid J, can you get an upgrade to F with miles or points? If so, I'd definitely work the NH angle. F is... truly amazing. armagebedar Dec 4, 11, 12:35 am I would call dropping IAD/ORD-NRT service doubtful. Plus, ORD is NH's main feeder into second-tier cities throughout the Midwest, Northeast, and South (along with IAD to a more limited extent). No, NH will not be discontinuing these flights anytime soon. (I wouldn't be surprised if IAD went back to a Y/C only config, though.) |
