JAL Mileage Bank - easy way to check award availability on JTA?

Hi folks,

I have been looking around for an easy way to check oneworld award availability for travel on Japan Transocean Air.

But to my surprise is that there is no apparent way to check availability online using any of the tools to my knowledge.

I have tried the BA EC online tool as well as the Award Nexus tool. When looking on the JMB website, it says we need to call in for availability.

I also tried to call AA directly and they say that they are not seeing any availability on the route I am after which is ISG-(OKA)-HND. BA's online booking tool does not even allow the ISG as a departure airport (it says it is not served by any partner!)

Any collective wisdom here in my situations?

Cheers :)

PS. I shall add that I am aware of the 2 month restriction on Japan domestic ticket. Although I am looking for travel beyond the 2 month limit, I used dummy dates within 2 months on the tools stated just to test whether anything would return avaialbility info.

Are you sure this is for award tickets? I can see the revenue tickets on JAL.com too. Do you mind elaborating on what you did?

But when i go to the relevant JMB page http://www.jal.co.jp/en/jalmile/use/jal/dom/#09 it says:

You must make reservations by calling the JMB Domestic Award Reservations Desk, starting no earlier than 7:00, two months before, and no later than the JAL office business hour closing time of 20:00, 4 days before your departure date.(For reservations made through the JAL homepage, the deadline for award requests is 23:59 4 days prior to the flight departure date.) (When the same date of the month does not exist two months before, reservations will be accepted from the last date of the month two months prior to the departure date.) However, reservations for 2nd sector or more will be accepted by applying to “Return Trip Confirmation Service” more than two months prior to departure date if whole itinerary ends within 15 days from the departure date for the first sector.

have you tried searching yourself? I saw award availability and had no problem selecting the flights

Yes, I just managed to see it too! Turned out that I had to register for JMB first then log in to see the reservation tool!

I just assumed from what I read that there wouldn't be possible to check availability online. Hence I didn't even try to register!

Sorry for the clumsiness :p

Thanks for your help anyway!^

Hello.
I wonder if someone could clarify this for me.

If I am using BA miles for a domestic JAL award flight can I book a flight that is more than 2 months out from today's date?

Thank you for any replies^

I am actually wondering the same thing. on ba.com, i am seeing availability beyond the 2month mark for OKA-HND and it appears bookable. However, I haven't attempted to book yet so can't say for sure that ticketing will be done smoothly given that the regulation for domestic Japan flights is set for 2 month maximum advance sales.

what routes are you looking for? are you ready to book it yet?

I was able to book domestic segments 6 months ahead before, but they were within a OneWorld award. Not sure if you can book it stand alone with more than 2 months out.
