Could someone please explain this for me? I don't use credit cards, but if I can get a no annual fee card, that gives me 12,000 points right off the bat, I might get one just for a backup plan to my backup plan (cash). I guess I don't understand the part about 1/2 going to the chase card, half going to AGR account....do I get 12,000 points on AGR, or just 6000 to use?? Thanks!

"You will receive a total of 12,000 bonus points with this bonus offer. Half of your earned bonus points will post to your Chase credit card account and appear on your Chase statement and the other half will post directly to your Amtrak Guest Rewards account. The entire bonus point amount will appear on your Amtrak Guest Rewards statement. Amtrak is wholly liable for the bonus points posted directly to your Amtrak Guest Rewards account"

The credit card signup bonus is funded 50/50 Chase/Amtrak, but you will get the full amount of AGR points advertised. There are multiple offers out there with incentives up to 36,000 points so if you are not in deseprate need of a credit line or the points it may benefit you to wait for a sweeter deal.

If you can do it quick enough Continental has a 50000 mile offer out right now but it may be targeted. Continental miles are CURRENTLY transferable to Amtrak.
When CO/UA combination finished this may not be the case.

Perfect, thanks, I'll wait and see if there's something better come up, not in any hurry.

Just as a heads up, you will only get 12k points from Amtrak until you travel on Amtrak and report a Guest Rewards number. Once you travel, they might increase your targeted offer.
