Today I received a 7.5" x 5.5" glossy cardboard package through the USPS from Diners Club. It took me awhile to figure out how to open it by pulling cards out of slots at both sides, and then to notice that each exposed flap contained four pages of text touting the new dinersclubus.com website.

I don't like this style of promotion, but it demonstrates an awareness that Club Rewards is an important feature of the card, and I think it shows some interest in retaining Professional cardholders in addition to the Corporate accounts.

The text implies that points can be transferred to cruise loyalty programs, but I see no evidence that this is accurate.

I got this too and my reaction was that this was just one of those overblown "marketing" items that just proved that some smarty-pants at BMO is more interested in proving what a cool marketer they are than in actually providing service to their customer base.

Really - this thing must have cost a fortune...on top of the previous mailing that had 4 or 5 separate yet similar looking brochures! I for one would rather see them put some effort into improving their abysmal web site.

I am seriously considering taking advantage of the 50% point bonus for transfers to Delta and closing my account.

I like the new Club Rewards site and hope the other site follows suit. It would interesting to hear the "brains" behind this glossy piece approving it as a great way to spend marketing dollars. It looks good but is of poor quality. Maybe it was supposed to be a way to distract from all the issues I've seen posted on this site. (That I hope I don't have to experience).

I got one too ... and was initially perplexed by the complexity of the mailer ... also was worried that there was a new card in it and didn't want to throw it out until I was sure there wasn't! lol It did seem overly elaborate and flash ... somewhat of an oxymoron given the horror stories I'm reading on here about the transfer to BMO.

Ludicrous waste of time and money.

I liked the idea that they are open to making custom club rewards starting at 50k points, even though I would never do that.

But I agree the mailer was bulky and confusing. I nearly cut myself twice on the cardboard trying to open it!
