to my knowledge, this is a first in the industry. very interesting. the credit is quite restrictive (non-transferable and valid for 90 days), but kicks in if your flight arrives more than 30 minutes late or if your luggage does not arrive on your flight. fare structure on Volaris seems to have three levels. This credit is 100% for highest fare and 50% for middle fare. The luggage allowance also varies based on fare level.

Volaris, a mexican based airline, has been gradually expanding in the US market, and they have an alliance with southwest.

I heard from another forum member trusted travel site that it depends on what you paid for the ticket, that is, what classification. Here is her experience after a 2 hr delay the other day:

"Volaris says " 30 min" policy and refund for next flight".. even the pilot said after he announced his apologies to everyone for being delayed. So they told us call back within 90 days and we refund you ....so here I go explaining by phone what had happened that day ..........and they tell me my reservation does NOT apply because I had purchased a "Want to save" ticket. "

Print out the website. If the restrictions are not clearly listed, dispute your charge with your credit card company as "service not received".

Welcome to FlyerTalk bvmcginnis! The terms of this refund are pretty clearly set out in the link that I provided. No need for hearsay when it simply confirms that they're implementing their policy as stated.
