Hilton HHonors - Embassy Suites Indianapolis DowntownView Full Version : Embassy Suites Indianapolis Downtown thissucks Jan 15, 03, 8:53 pm anyone stayed here yet? any upgrades for Gold VIP? free pkg, pkg fees(in and out)?? jayfr Jan 26, 03, 10:07 pm My experience today, Superbowl Sunday, was that the hotel was not very busy, I was not offered a room upgrade, there was no "Embassy Touch", and when I called about it, was informed that it was now a bottle of water. So much for that "light snack"... OK, so I'm only a gold, but last time here (November) I got both an upgrade and the coveted black box of munchies (and two bottles of water). DLSIZE Jan 26, 03, 10:11 pm When I stayed there several months ago....had a nice welcome basket in an upgrade syite on the top floor. The bedroom was actually up a set of stairs in the suite. Balcony was nice and big and had a great view of downtown. thissucks Feb 4, 03, 12:17 pm stayed here 1 night. had remodeling on some of the floors. my room wasn't ready when i checked in abt 4pm so i was offered a suite on the 13th floor. frontdesk person personally delivered the box with munchies + 2 bottled waters to my suite. wasn't offered an upgrade. it's within walking distance to the movies, Ruth's Chris and across from Buca di Beppo. nearby Hyatt & Westin. cblaisd Feb 4, 03, 1:46 pm Spent a night there last summer. Lovely room and welcome basket. Wished I hadn't gotten in so late so I could have enjoyed it more. Very friendly staff. answida May 8, 06, 11:00 am For anyone going to Indy, this hotel has really gone down the tubes in the past couple of years - interestingly, that has corresponded with the opening of a new HGI, Hilton, Hampton, and Conrad (and soon HS) within a 5 min walk - to the point where fortunately I don't have to stay here anymore:) Three years ago I though this was one of the top ES in the country, now, it is certainly not. Cheers, Answida ohmark May 8, 06, 12:03 pm For anyone going to Indy, this hotel has really gone down the tubes in the past couple of years Answida Specifics would be helpful. Thanks. answida May 8, 06, 1:29 pm Sorry ohmark, got sidetracked and submitted without thinking! -Rude check-in: staying on an award, gave the award cert, and was then lectured on how they needed the award cert with the number, which is exactly what they were given  she wouldn't even look at the piece of paper in her hand! -No diamond recognition (nada, not at check-in, not in-room) -The hotel is getting worn, and actually starting to smell a little foul (ciggies mixed with chlorine), carpet no longer clean, that kind of thing -Breakfast is still good though Hope that helps, Answida jabez May 9, 06, 5:41 am I stayed there about a month ago. I had a friendly professional check-in. My room was not an upgrade and I had to request my water, etc. It's an average property with a good location and an off-track wagering bar connected to it. You can walk to the mall through walkways and to some good restaurants. I'll probably choose a different property next month when I return. Vlaka May 9, 06, 7:45 am No Diamond recognition when I arrived. No water or cookies. I heard from a fellow Diamond that they waive the internet fee for Diamonds so I asked. It didn't appear on my bill so I am happy. 20th floor has the deluxe suites, never available for upgrades. I was told that they were under renovation and then the next night I saw a woman with her luggage press the 20th floor button in the elevator. I hate being lied to. avidflyer Aug 18, 06, 5:18 am I will be staying at the ES Downtown Indy this weekend. Any recent experience on what to expect as a Diamond? Upgrades, treatment etc. I would appreciate any recent feedback. AvidFlyer- jabez Aug 18, 06, 6:32 am I stayed there in May and then again July. Pretty much the same. A great location. They put me in a room on a floor that's recently been renovated. At first they tried to upgrade me to a suite with a giant conference table. It was an aweful room. The table took up almost the entire room and the lights were fluorescent.I called them and asked to switch and was moved to a typical ES room. They did recognise my status, but I've been in better and worse ES's. avidflyer Aug 18, 06, 7:30 am I stayed there in May and then again July. Pretty much the same. AvidFlyer- Vlaka Aug 18, 06, 9:31 am I stayed there a few weeks in May 06. Request a corner room, they are slightly larger. The mega suites on the top floor they told me were under renovation, but I saw others in the elevator with luggage headed there. They have a nicer than average evenig reception, and breakfast is usually pretty fast too. avidflyer Aug 19, 06, 9:14 pm No Diamond recognition when I arrived. I checked in at 5pm and asked for an upgrade. The girl at the FD asked me "to what? I said, a bigger room, high floor, whatever you can do for me. She said there is a free breakfast and "all of the rooms are the same anyway" and she proceeded to give me a room on the 6'th floor. At that point I looked at her name tag and saw "trainee"...hmmm, thats the problem. When the manager walked by, I said loud enough for him to hear me, "are you sure you cant get me on a higher floor?" as she was saying the words, sir we are sold out, the manager stepped up to the terminal, banged on the keys for about 5 seconds, and gave me a penthouse suite (2 story) on the 20'th floor and appologized to me. The girl said she did not see my status at first and was sooo sorry, blah, blah, blah I told her not to wory about it and I got a very nice room but it just goes to show you that you need to beware of apathetic employees, evn if they are just new, sometimes you have to, nicely, make sure they know what you want. Thanks for all of the input. suzieq Oct 13, 06, 7:05 am Rcvd call yesterday advising Diamonds were no longer upgraded (was in my request). Would receive water and cookies. Staying tonight, will see suzieq Oct 16, 06, 6:52 am Rcvd call just before arriving adv would be upgraded . . just opposite of previous phone call @ home night before. Upon arrival reservation in order; people very friendly. Room upgraded to Penthouse Floor. Appeared construction continuing on the floor. Patio had wonderful view of city. There were some cords dangling across it. Appeared from building to building. Thought they could be a hazard and being dark we weren't curious enough to explore 'em. No patio chairs, but dining chairs easily moved out. Bath amenities standard. Sit in shower in lower level bath. The Diamond Basket contained M&Ms, candy bars, water and snacks (no cookies). By the time the three of us got together, evening reception about ending so we went out and about to find food elsewhere. Upon returning, family went to the OTB Sports bar and were successful enough that the drinks didn't take any out of pocket funds. Breakfast complete; bill in order (parking only; used points to pay). |
