Hilton HHonors - What would you do if your award stay hotel left hilton
I reserved a stay using HH points at TPE Hilton back in Nov 2002. The stay is for March 2003. Now the hotel has left the chain, will they still honor the booking? If I don't hear from them, does it mean they will honor it when I checkin with my HH cert?

The only opinion that counts here is from the management of the hotel in question. Write or e-mail the reservations manager of the hotel. If s/he says that your reservation won't be honored, I guess you're out of luck and will have to redeposit the points. If s/he says that your reservation will be honored, you would certainly be well-advised to bring the letter or e-mail with you when you register. (I'd think that you'd really need the confirmation in writing/e-mail, and not simply in a phone conversation.)

Hilton took care of me in a similar situation. I made a GLON reservation between Christmas and New Years at the Camino Real Puerto Vallarta right after the two chains announced a marketing agreement. Soon thereafter, they broke off their partnership. Camino Real claimed they would not honor the existing confirmed reservation. The HHonors folks stepped in and ultimately paid Camino Real for the stay at a rate of $300 per night or $1800 for the whole stay. They then deducted the 100k points from my account. Their action on my behalf has made me a very loyal customer, even given the new point levels.

I'm scheduled to stay at CR PVR on Feb. 3-6, then Westin PVR for 4 nights. When I asked HHonors this ??, I got a call back from Sharon of the Diamond desk to help me although I'm only Gold. Only bad thing: When I booked I was told Executive, but Sharon & Co. said her files showed Select & charged me accordingly.
Too bad the partnership did not last: CR had almost no capacity controls on HHonors awards http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif!

Re the Hilton TPE, I have spoken to them about booking an award, and they have clearly advised me that they WILL NOT be honoring any awards from 1 Jan 03. I would suggest you contact them to confirm:

If this fails to provide the desired solution, contact your nearest HH desk and ask them for advice on what you should do.
And... if they can't find an alternate hotel, start looking!! lai lai, westin and hyatt are all fine.
The Diamond desk finally replied to me that they have contacted the hotel and they will honor my reservation with deduction of my HH points. Thank you hilton!
