I have a 7 hour stopover in HK. I've been to HK and Kowloon before and not much of a shopper. So I am thinking of staying in Lantau Island.

Is it possible to do Ngong Ping 360 and Tai O fishing village in the time that I have? I'm thinking one hour to get out and should be back 2 hours before the flight so that leaves me with 4 hours.

If not, which ONE will you people pick?

Yes, you have time to do both. What times are your flights?

As far as I remember you can get a ticket that gives you a ride up to Ngong Ping and then to Tai O. From Ngong Ping to Tai O is like 30 minutes by bus. From Tai O you should be able to get back to the airport within 1 hour. It should be possible to do both if you are fast, and that you don't have to wait long for the bus.

I like Tai O quite some because I'm not a fan of Buddha. It's beautiful and you can see the old fishing village (a bit touristy but it's a tourist attraction). You don't have to spend a lot of time there. 1 hour should be enough to walk around and take some pictures. If you are planning to eat there then it takes longer time.

To maximize time, just take a blue taxi straight from airport to Tai O. I suspect about HK$150. Not unreasonable. When you get there, check the time of Bus #21 to Ngong Ping (it's infrequent), and allocate time you spend in Tai O. [Taxis may not be readily available.]

It's about 20 minutes to get to Ngong Ping. After Big Buddha, take cable car DOWN to Tung Chung. It's less likely there'll be lines going down. Unless it's Sunday or Public Holiday.

From Tung Chung, either take S1 bus (takes about 15 minutes), or blue taxi back to airport - cheap 5 minute ride.
