Hilton HHonors - Hilton Gold???

Hello All,
I read in a previous post that gold can be obtained in 4 stays. How is that possible? Thanks

Do a search in this forum with search term "gold promotion". Read some of the threads that come up.

You'll find that the "four stays to gold" promotion doesn't run anymore, but that there may be an even quicker way to become a Gold VIP (without any stays).

If you're referring to AAGU I think it requires 4 stays within 90 days. I think that's true of AAGE too.

I called Hilton Honors Customer three times in a row. First time was told that promotion was applied to account but that I would recieve nothing because I was already Gold. I politely thanked him and ended the call. On the second call I was told that I was already Gold and that the promotion ended 12/31/02. I politely thanked her and ended the call. On third try was told that the AAGU Promotion was applied to my account which would extend my Gold Status until 4/2005!!! Perseverance pays off! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

did the same...got extended Gold thru 4/2005.....

I called and was told it would extend my gold until the end of 2003. I asked if she was sure because I had a friend that said his was extended until April, 2005. She said she'd check with her supervisor. Returned, apologized, and did it--for me and my husband. Thanks for the heads up.

I registered someone through my member get a member a few days ago, and had no problem signing them up for AAGU.

Only 1,000 AA bonus miles require 4 stays, the rest of this promo (i.e., HH Gold status) is instant.

I think with all the gold promotions, some people have gotten it instantly, others have not. Those that have not have had some success at calling over and over again asking for it, the rest have been told it's after four stays. All denepds on who you talk to. I was one of the after four stays people, they couldn't give it to me.

So while most people will get it up front, for some reason there are those who won't.

When the promo code is properly entered in the computer by a CSR, it is instant. To ensure that, always ask to confirm that it is entered in the field called Tier Upgrade area.

On a related note I was told by CSR that since I have a Hilton HHonors Visa that my current gold status would stay indefinitely as a benefit of having the HHonors Visa. Has anyone else heard this? They told me this when I was trying to use an airline provided code to extend my Gold and they siad don't worry about it...

From the Hhonors Visa application:
Complimentary Hilton HHonors Silver VIP status for your first year of cardmembership.
I hope though, it's what the CSR told you! A lot of us will be GOLD for life (or until they start charging a large fee for the card). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Thanks for the heads up. First call said sorry, you're only through 4/03 & I can't find anything to extend you. Called right back & the nice girl immediately extended me through 4/05. Woo Hoo!!!!

By the way, when you call up you are immediately prompted to sign up for the Double, Triple, Quadruple miles promotion. Not sure what it is, but I signed up...

Is the any difference between Gold and Gold VIP?

AFAIK, everything above Blue is considered a VIP.

I signed-up for this promo also, would love to know what it is. Also, got my Gold status extended through 4/2005 without a hitch. I told Amber (very friendly) I've got a tier upgrade code and it took a fe seconds of typing and was done. Granted, I'll probably qualify for Gold anyway with my travel schedule.

I also had my Gold VIP status extended until '05 but was informed by a seemingly knowledgeable CS rep that if I don't earn the Gold requirements in '03, that next year I will have a card that says Gold but in the system I will have lost my status.

Bah! IMO (not "H"umble http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif these guys make stuff up and spout it like fact. The more "knowledgeable" they seem, the odder stuff they say.

This is based on my experience, and a good pal who is a supervisor of a call center (not HH). He says he can't believe the stuff these guys say. And he says most of them are stoned half the time anyway. It (stoners that BS) is their biggest headache.

I called and requested the extension and Melanie (so sweet) said, no problem, it's done! Code AAGU worked-extended to 4/2005. YAY Thanks all!

also called and mentioned AAGU code to Toria. extended to '05 although i'm sure i'll make diamond this yr. took less than all of 2 minutes.

I called and used the AAGU code a couple of months ago and got comped Gold. My card says expiration date 4/2004.

Are the extensions to 4/2005 everybody is referring to an extension of already existing Gold status or a first-time comp ? In other words: if I call and quote AAGU again, would they extend my status until 4/2005 ?

huegli, I had an AAGU '04 card and called with AAGU again and am receiving an extension to '05. Read an earlier post of mine in this thread about the card's "validity" after this year.

Called and was told that that particular promotion is only valid once per account. I already got comped until 4/2004 and can't get extended until 4/2005.

I got the exact same spiel. But Tenacious says he did get it. I'll just keep asking every now and then.

CNTU had me through 04/03, then I earned it, then AAGU now has me through 04/04. But especially with reward stays counting towards status, I'm pretty sure I'll earn it again., If not, another code should roll around in the next year. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I was told a new '05 card was being sent; I'll post when I receive it. As I stated earlier, this was the second time I used code AAGU.

I called the agent earlier today, and he entered the code (AAGU) - to my account, next to my AAdvantage (Platinum) number. However, he did not volunteer the period of time that my Gold status has been extended for.

Should I call another agent, to confirm that my Gold status has been extended for another 2 years, or would this information be posted on my account, on the HHonors web site?

HHonors added AAGU to my profile a few months ago. I called today to check on the extension and was told by the CSR that the code will not extend my gold status beyond 4/03. Called back and was told by a different CSR that I need to let my status revert back to silver in April and then call back on 5/1/03 when they can apply AAGU and extend the gold status. Does this sound right?
