Aegean Airlines Miles&Bonus - How long does status with A3 last?

Has anybody got information about how the requalification system works?

So, no one figured out how many miles do you need to remain a gold member? Really?

Yes, really! How could you, if nothing is indicated in their site? I could give you my full stats, but there is no way to find out from them. At any rate, if it helps, since becoming gold in July 2005, I've flown anything from 29 to 33 A3 segments per year, yielding between 15.0K and 24.38 status miles from flights (other awards like hotels, etc. as well as three of *A, non-Aegean flights excluded), and I've kept my status.

Only cards issued in 2011 will display an expiry. Those issued in 2010 do not have an expiry date on the card.

Of course, being a "hard-core" optimist, I'd like to believe that we old M&B members (several years now) will get a *G for life membership ;) : I missed my Flying Blue Platinum for life by three years when I jumped ship a couple of years ago.

After reaching gold status on A3 I waiting a very long time for my card so I wrote A3 a mail asking for my card. 4 days later I received my goldcard package and the card would expire 12/2013.

A couple of days ago I receive my replacement card for the one I thought was lost in the mail. However, the new card I received expires 12/2014... ^

The T&C seem to indicate that you keep the status for good as long as your account doesn't go inactive for 36 (!!!!) months. Ergo, the expiration dates on the cards seem to be more akin to credit card expiration dates, just to make sure people aren't passing off ages-old cards.

It appears that A3's approach, both with the free silver for their credit card holders and the perma-status, is to set a fairly low bar for status—basically giving it to anyone who's ever flown frequently—and cash in on the lifetime loyalty by requiring all the member's *A flight activity to be credited to M&B.

I'm not sure if this is surreal or incredible. Surely A3 must realise that people will just request a new card every couple of years to get extended status. Maybe the extended card won't work at lounges, because then there's a cross-check against the *A status database which would cause questions to be asked about the difference in validity.

I'm also struggling to understand how a variable membership year always seems to end in December :confused:

But I think status is extended providing you credit at least one flight a year...

Your card is valid for 3 years but if you do NOT travel with a Star alliance airline within the 2 first years your points will be lost and your account lost after the third year. During the third year you an ONLY make retroactive claims for previous flights and no earnings is possible unless you have used the card before the end of the 2 years. One excellent thing is that your points with A3 will never expire if you stick to this.

SIN-NRT-YVR-YYZ

Now I currently have status with AC. So when I take my flights especially the AC flights I want to ensure we get the upgrades especially for the YYZ-NRT and NRT-YVR-YYZ but also ensure that we get the mileage credited to AR3. Any suggestions will be great.

my plan is to credit all my *A without elite bonus (on UA) on A3. just got my card and it expires on Dec 14 as well.

Not possible. Only one FFP at a time and so you an not upgrade with one and credit points to another.

Some *A carriers do permit one FF number for status and a different one for accrual. SQ is an example.
