What do you guys think of this reward. I mean for 110k I could get approx. 26400 AA miles which I could sell for roughly $500 so it is a little undervalued in that sense. But still, "free" $ in Vegas is not all that bad, is it?

Chapter11,

Are you new to FT? If so, welcome.

But, posting a message about selling AA miles in your first post sounds too suspicious to me!

In any case, I would rather spend that 110,000 points on expensive hotels (worth more than $400).

elbidercni - Yes, I am a relatively new member. Thanks for the welcome, its a great site.

The only reason I mentioned the AA mileage selling is because that is a way to objectively quantify the worth of an HHonors point.

I agree that hotels are the way to go when using your points but in this case the casino chip redemption seemed like a viable option. I was just wanting some comments on this.

Selling miles is illegal so it is not a way to objectively quantify the worth of an HHonor point and it is certainly not an activity that is appreciated here.

ql2112 - sorry for the breech of etiquette. I am well aware of the legal ramifications of selling miles. Simmer down.

Not a very good use of HH points IMO.

And I believe that your HH->AA conversion ratio is off. 10,000 HH = 1,500 airline miles.

If anyone in this world gives you more than about two hundred bucks for an illegal mileage transaction, could you please give me his email? I have some real estate I want to sell him.

pinniped - there are plenty of people out there that pay $500+ for a p25M ticket. Not that I ever engage in those transactions mind you.

You need to determine if these are "Matchplay" chips or actual gaming chips. Here is why :

Matchplay chips are only good for 1 wager. They are worth about 45% of their face value.

Example on $100 Matchplay chip bet :If you lose the bet you get zero and they take your chip. If you win, you get $100, but they still take the matchplay chip. Since you only win a little less than 1/2 your bets, half the time you win $0, the other half you win $100.

Park Place frequently gives out matchplay chips on mailed invitations to past casino players.

I would suggest getting clarification on the chips prior to redeeming your points.

The chips they give you for the luck4 reward
are the same chips you get if you walk up
and hand them 4 crisp 100$ bills.

You can walk around for 15 minutes and turn
the chips back in for $400.

I just received two of these. It says right on the rules that accompany them: "May only be exchanged for cash or gaming chips"

Find the guy that pays $500+ for a 25,000 mile ticket. Offer to sell him the $400 in chips for $1000. He'll probably bite...

Sometimes having the liquid cash is more useful, even though I could redeem the 110K points for more "value" in hotel nights.

yeah...a LOT more value...the only way I could semi see your point is if you just didn't have the money....but then again...why would you be going to Vegas if you don't have the cash? Give me the 110k ...I'll give you $500.
