Hilton HHonors - Any Hilton options in Madrid Spain

I will be there the second week of February and cannot find anything? Am I missing something?

Sorry to deliver bad news but I think the only Hilton in Spain is the Hilton Barcelona.

( On an aside I do not think there is a Marriott in Madrid either)

I agree with The _Banking_Scot, I was in Madrid for New Year's Eve and had to stay at a Best Western (extremely close to the Puerta del Sol) as I could not locate a Hilton property.

It's true. There are no Hiltons in Spain.

As I travel frequently to the Iberian peninsula, I have become a big fan of SolMelia properties. Some of them in particular are very nice - and of all the chains operating in Spain, they are the largest/most widely available.

My recommendation to you for downtown Madrid is to stay at the Tryp Cibeles. Recently redone (<3 years ago), the Cibeles is very very central (Gran Via/Callao stations), reasonably quiet for Madrid, and has a lovely breakfast. It is not "luxe", but more of a business class hotel.

Be sure to not book a single room at any SolMelia property. When they say single, they mean single. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Often, their US reservations desk has better prices than their website. Use the website as a property/pricing guide, then call them.

Sidenote: they don't really understand how to post your ff miles. You will probably need to request that each stay be posted from their MAS program desk (you can use email) after each stay.

I'm actually arriving in MAD on 23 January and went through the hotel game a while back, in the end opting for a good rate at Tryp Capitol. While you receommened the Tryp Cibeles, any feedback on the Capitol?
